I have finally seen my most anticipated movie of the year. And for once I was not disappointed. It manages to stay true to the spirit of Shelley’s novel, make some nice references to earlier films, and still be its own thing all at the same time. One of my favorites of the year.

I can’t really explain why but this movie really shook me up and I didn’t even realize it until I’d left the theater and got to my car. I haven’t had that string of a response to a movie in a long time. I thought it was great! But it also really got under my skin.
