That was a rough year, which prompted me to pay out of pocket for an assessment. Kiddo was diagnosed with ADHD, which explained lots of things, & although most of elementary school was still hard on her (bullying & misunderstandings), she is now thriving in high school.

Then I meet with an educator, who says "Never stops talking, needs to be separated, bothersome, needs to change". But then as I pick my daughter up from school, there's a lineup of kids who want to hug her and everyone says bye, and as we're leaving, older children wave from across the fence saying "Hey it's Margot! Margot! Margot can I be your friend??"

Freelancing is great because I can take a day off whenever I want AND feel so guilty about doing it that instead of resting, I get to wander around the house all day thinking "I should be working"

A 5-panel comic, the last one from the 2019 Montreal Comic Arts Festival. I'm asking my friend Cab to please take my 6yo daughter to the restroom while I stay at my table. When they both step inside the main festival building, there's someone speaking on a mic, "When referring to fantasy in comics, ..." so Cab tells my daughter "There's a panel going on, let's be quiet!" They walk in in silence but then the panel moderator looks at my kid and just says into the mic "Hey, is that Margot?" so Cab says yes, and my daughter is shocked. Then the entire audience and panelists say hello to her, using her name. When she comes back to the table, she tells me "All your friends know who I am!" And I apologize.

Years later, both my daughters are still very much the best literary agents-- their teachers buy me books without me knowing and then tell me about it during parent-teacher night.

After a while she says "Mom no one's buying anything". So she grabs one of my books, opens it and pretends reading it, and comments very loudly: "WELL HAHA MY SISTER KICKED MY MOM IN THE FACE, silly Annette, HAHAHAHA SUCH A FUNNY BOOK". This was before she could read comfortably.

I’m thinking about getting Octopath Traveler 0, but the village building limitations throw me off a bit. The Switch version has a 250-building limit, half what the Steamdeck allows. Seems like a no brainer but

would I really build 500 houses???? How many hours of gameplay is that, a thousand???

One of the gold caps flew off during the day and I never found it again. I still grieve about these boots :[

A 4-panel comic. One day at MCAF I wore my favourite boots: black boots with gold caps. I got married in these! As I walk around the festival, I get a lot of nice comments: Cool boots! So badass! I love your boots! Nice boots! Wow! Nice! But then in the evening, as I'm at a bar with friends, one of my friends points at my feet and asks "Hey, are your boots meant to be different?" As I look at my feet, one of my gold caps is gone and there's a gaping hole at the front of the boot. The last panel is a tombstone that reads "RIP Best boots of all time".

A 4-panel comic. At the Montreal Comic Arts Festival, fellow cartoonist Laurence was tabling with her 3-month-old daughter. Laurence hands me her baby, saying "Can you watch her while I'm on a panel?" I gladly take the baby. Happy, I hold the baby while standing up behind my own table. People walk by and are surprised, they don't even say anything but I immediately say "Haha she's not mine!" But then this kept happening and everyone who walked by gasped and on the last panel I just keep saying: "Nope, not my third, Laurence's, not mine, no"

I'll be at two events in Montreal in the coming weeks! First Expozine on the Sunday only, and then the Salon du livre de Montreal. I won't have my own wares, but you can still come and say hi if you're in the area!

Here's all the info (en français, sorry)!
A drawing of my face with screen tones. It says in French "salons d'automne", which means "fall fairs". My schedule for Expozine, 1025 Belanger E, in Montreal. Sunday November 16th, 12-13:30, at Pow Pow Press' table. My schedule for the Salon du livre de Montreal, which runs from November 19 to 23. I'll be there on the 19th, 21st and 22nd with various activities and signings.
