In an early 90's (print!) issue of Wired Magazine, there was an article about how the NORAD station in Cheyenne was upgraded.

There was a line in there that has stuck with me ever since:

"It was like upgrading your old black and white TV to color… while everyone was watching their favorite show."

"I migrated from Symfony/Http-Foundation to GuzzleHttp/Psr7 because, frankly, life is too short."

My micro-framework does not need enterprise-grade support; it needs me to understand exactly how every part functions.

New:
The current “AI race” media frenzy, whether framed as productivity revolution, Chinese competition, or AGI salvation, is either largely myth-making or missing the most crucial point.

So let me challenge that frenzy with a different story.

Been slowly reading David Harvey's "A Companion to Marx's 'Grundrisse'."
"Grundriss" is German for "floorplan" or "blueprint" or "architecture."
The original is notoriously difficult (Marx laying out and stress-testing all the theory & concepts of capital), and this companion is no easy read either…

AOC: I have to tell you, in my traveling across the country, I am hearing and have been seeing consistent things from everyday people. And it is that they are terrified, they are frustrated, they are angry, and they are shocked by a president violating the values that we hold dear

Social scientists often talk abt the contact hypothesis theory for which interpersonal interaction under certain circumstances can significantly improve intergroup relations. We don‘t know if public transit systematically creates these circumstances, but we do know that cars systematically do *not*.
i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

The only defense against tyranny & authoritarianism is shared knowledge and wisdom (education, journalism, culture).

The only offense, once it takes hold, is solidarity in resistance and overthrow, by whatever means necessary.

There's been endless talk about an AI bubble, but less about exactly how, why, and how much it's a bubble. So I turned to the framework put forward by scholars Brent Goldfarb and David A. Kirsch, authors of "Bubbles and Crashes," for assessing tech bubbles.

Spoiler: On a scale of 1 to 8, AI is an 8
AI Is the Bubble to Burst Them All
I talked to the scholars who literally wrote the book on tech bubbles—and applied their test.
