To summarize my main project, All-Seer:
Humanity has made the first FTL journey to an exoplanet in the 26th century. Here, the United Solar Colonies encounter the last bioengineered soldiers from a lost civilization. Both sides seek to coexist peacefully in a story about connection. (See Alt text!)

It's the 26th century, and humanity has made the first FTL jump to an exoplanet. Instead of finding a pristine world to explore, the United Solar Colonies find a planet surrounded by dead satellites and scarred by nuclear war. More surprisingly, the planet's remaining denizens of bioengineered super soldiers and kaiju are the ones to initiate first contact. They call their home Nyreen.

Nyreen's population is currently rebuilding their society, and their new leader, a gigantic, super-computing kaiju worm called Yohl, takes a keen interest in humanity. Yohl's ravenous curiosity and love for other people makes her eager to host the USC as guests. The USC begin diplomatic relations, poised to offer assistance in exchange for cultural and scientific research... and, to find out what happened to the Niri civilization during Nyreen's war. My goal is to write a wholesome story where kaiju see the goodness in mankind.

My school-related dreams have gone from me being trapped inside, to being confused as to why I was there, to being outright pissed that I’m still in high school in my 30’s

A teacher in my dream talked down to me and I said “SHUT YOUR MOUTH I HAVE A DIPLOMA”

Rana and Lua aren't biological sisters:
Rana lost her biological mother during the war, and grew up during the apocalypse.

Lua was born to Launi in the New World, over a decade after the apocalypse. She's never known war or even the Niri civilization. Lua admires her older sister greatly.

Finally saw The Tomorrow War, and I was seriously hoping that it was those crazy wild-ass White Spikes who built the spaceship.

I feel like things are more clearly defined and that I can write a much better piece for Yohl now than in January. Who she is now is also so different (in a better way I feel) than who she was in January. More complex range of emotions.

It's a fun part of the learning experience with writing.

After a long hiatus, I wrote 2200+ words today outlining major changes to Yohl's character arc.

Yohl's journey has changed drastically between now and when I seriously began planning to write in January. I'm excited to make the scale of my larger-than-life kaiju's story smaller and more personal.

The top image features a pink diagram of a fictional set of avian lungs. Blue arrows point to air flow down the trachea to the posterior air sacs, then the lungs, the anterior air sacs and back out the trachea. This unidirectional flow prevents air mixing and increases respiration efficiency, as seen in nature with birds. Gas exchange occurs in the parabronchi labelled in yellow.

The middle image features a fictional ‘accessory lung’ that has separate inhalant and exhalant tracheae. These are extra organs bioengineered into kaiju to use in addition to their main ‘avian’ systems.

The bottom image features a fictional ‘accessory turbine’ lung. Gray synthetic, osseous turbines create a constant flow of air without needing to use respiratory muscles. The Great Worms rely entirely on modified turbine systems for pulmonary respiration.

(Side note: all of Nyreen’s kaiju utilize photosynthesis to supplement their oxygen, using either green or red chlorophyll.)

The cartoon style is easier to work with over the ‘realistic’ art style I have in mind for canon pieces. It’s like a low-impact way for my brain to practice lines, colours and lighting.

(I legit love my job, but it can make me very tired and can slow my creative output significantly)

I’ve been making lots of progress towards drafting Book 1, but my current art output reflects very little of it tbh.

I’ve just been enjoying drawing non-canon cartoons for my setting lately, letting the characters bounce off each other before writing for them “legitimately” in the novel series.
