I really loved it, in all its goofiness!

and when a braindead Labour spokesperson says something along the lines of "We believe the right to stay here must not be automatic" literally NOT ONE OF YOU FUCKERS stand up and ask "Erm, have you *actually* looked at immigration rules on settlement?"
The first or second movie l saw at the cinema (it was either that or Black Beauty, whichever came out first)!

The "weight lifting robot can replace the gym" analogy (may be Ted Chiang's, originally?) remains undefeated in explaining the category error the generative AI industry continues to make.

Imagine thinking this replaces the point of travel. For crying out loud.

The main achievement of the tech industry has been increasing the flow of money from people who make or do things to people who already have more money than they could spend in a hundred lifetimes
“Average musician makes $12 a month on Spotify. The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”
Garbage’s Shirley Manson Speaks Out Against Music Industry Economics: “This Is An Alarm Call”
Just before they kicked off their current run of dates, the ’90s alt-rock greats Garbage announced that it would be their final North American headline tour. When the band played at Denver’s Mission B...

At the Ren Faire today, we watched a blacksmith give a 30-minute demonstration about swords. And at the end he said, “My lecture is now over, here are some kittens to pet.”

*Proceeds to uncover 2 large pet carriers and pulls out 6 kittens.*
This whole thing seems like one of those 'What did you do over the summer, Parker?' montages from Leverage! (@johnrogers.bsky.social )
However, 1.5 hours of this was just Hey Jude...
(Penny and I will never stop making jokes about how long this song got played for in the closing concert for the 2012 Olympics!)
I just watched Paul McCartney play 2.5 hours of time capsule-worthy classics. My verdict is that he’s the greatest songwriter in the history of rock n roll.
To be fair, you can get surface-level mould off like that, but you need some chemical assistance to really get it clean.
(Guess who spent a long weekend cleaning all the mould from their bathroom a month or so ago...)
My wife originally went to the doctor with what turned out to be cancer, not because she felt a lump but because the underside of the breast had a puckering of the skin.
My advice these days is that if you notice anything unusual, anything at all, get it checked.
Good afternoon! I'm halfway through Gene Wolfe's The Land Across. It's interesting enough to keep me going and I'm curious how it will resolve. It's not going to be one of my favourite Wolfes, though.
I've got this to play at some point (soonish, possibly...)
Glad to hear that you are back with us, and I hope the removal of said bits leads to an equivalent quality of life improvement!
I've just created a new character for a D&D campaign, and I may have made life very difficult for myself by taking a flaw that they always speak in rhyme...
God, yes. It starts off not being too unpleasant, but by the time you're finished, you hate it!
Anyway, that aside, I hope everything goes smoothly today. I'll be thinking of you.
Just 'Rhythm Dual' perhaps, making a bit of a pun on 'dual/duel'?
I can't help but suspect that this is going to turn out to be some sort of grift.
In my own (slow) reread of Discworld, I just finished Wyrd Sisters and read that very quote to Penny when I came to it!
Aww, that alt text is lovely! And send my congrats to Tony.

RIP movie poster art legend Drew Struzan. What a legacy 🔥
I'm sure I've told this story before, but one time at Wiscon, @sigridellis.bsky.social asked me to fill in on a panel on flirting because she thought I'd be good on it. According to Penny, I actually took a full step backwards at the suggestion!
The UK edition was the same; it was the very first PS2 game I ever played, and that artwork set a very high level of expectation for console game art!
