I am a librarian, freelance writer, and artist. I co-authored the book Desegregation in Northern Virginia Libraries (History Press 2023) and am a columnist for Computers in Libraries magazine. I geek old manual typewriters and Alaskan brown bears.

Just a little reminder to add alt text descriptions to visual images so people with vision challenges can enjoy them. It only takes a minute. I often forget, so this is a reminder to myself as much as anyone else. #disabilityawareness, #accessibility
Remington typewriter for sale at Strasbourg Emporium, Virginia, booth 55.
These are great machines! Tom Hanks agrees. 😉
Three Royal ultra-portables made in Holland in the 1960's: a gray 1961 Royalite, a red 1964 Royal Parade, and a teal blue 1965 Singer Scholastic T4. All cleaned up with new ribbons. Which is your favorite? #typewriter
Assateague Island in October. It's split between Maryland and Virginia and known for its wild ponies. Several ponies were spotted but were too far away to capture on phone camera. Mosquitoes also live here and are less shy.

This beauty didn't come with a case, so I just have to keep her out and look at her all day. What a shame... #typewriter #royal
A beautiful fall day in Virginia.

I painted this portrait of my childhood idol, #JaneGoodall several years ago. May her memory inspire us to act compassionately towards our fellow beings and be more responsible stewards of our planet.
New project. This 1965 Royal Caravan #typewriter was gifted to me. It works but needs a lot of cleaning. When cleaning typewriters, do you work from the outside in, or vice versa?
Fat Bear Week 2025 starts tomorrow! Head over to Explore.org to start voting in the brackets! #fatbearweek
Life was more interesting in Medieval times....
Outlaw Music Festival at Merriweather Post Pavillion last night! Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, and Willie Nelson! I got the cheap (aka lawn) seats, but the acoustics were perfect.

Squish! Sigh. What a mess.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
