I might have to accept that some people are so far down the gen AI rabbit hole (and I'm resolutely not) that we are always going to be baffled by the other person's perspective.
This came across my feed recently and, from a certain perspective, I found it fascinating. They have a completely different mindset to me when it comes to gen AI.

I've read it twice, just to give it a fair hearing. But I just can't put myself in their position.

This advert keeps appearing on YouTube and I have to admit, it caught my eye. The company is local to me and I do like fudge.

However, digging deeper, it reinforced one of the things I keep seeing about AI. If there are real benefits, why can't anyone provide examples?

But at least they were able to use Gemini to develop sugar-free fudge.

Right.

Right?

Is it really generative AI that has made it easier or could it be, I don't know, the internet?

Why don't they talk about how life is easier now than it was a couple of years ago, before gen AI came along? Not decades ago.

If there were benefits, this would be the perfect place to talk about them.
The accompanying blog post is all about freeing up time by using Gemini to research recipes for sugar-free fudge.

"Researching ingredients for sugar free handmade fudge would have been incredibly challenging just decades ago."

Yes. It would have been. Decades ago.

Considering how much it has rained today, getting back from a dog walk only slightly damp counts as a win!

Human artists!?

Use one piece to convince people to follow you !
That sucks. There's so much new building all around Newton Abbot and so few protected sites. If they let this slide, it sets a worrying precedent.

Here’s EJ Martin! She’s been in MarsCorp! She’s been in Down! She’s been in Casualty! She’s being in* The Divide as June Dalton, an agent very interested in Paul Wilder’s experiences in East Berlin. The Divide starts in 1 week! #audiodrama #podcast #spyfiction

*’being in’ is totally correct.

The paperback of "On the Shoulders of Giants" is up for preorder now.
If people fancy seeing the sort of fantasy stuff I'm doing for Warhammer, my novella "On the Shoulders of Giants" has its paperback preorder starting next Saturday. If you don't know Warhammer, you don't particularly need to. Just the story of a man with a gun who lives on top of an ogre.
Sometimes that's exactly the right way to spend a weekend.

Every ai video sucks because they’re never more than their prompts, you’re like ‘yeah that’s a video of a dinosaur eating chips whilst skateboarding,” but like that’s it - you could just post your prompt and it’d be the same. But every real piece of film contains MORE than just its script
A big thank you to everyone who has booked with me recently.

I still have 2025 spaces for book covers and character art so please get in touch if you're looking for either of those!
I've had a few projects postponed this month so I have availability for book cover and character art commissions.

* Illustrated or photo-based covers

* Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror character art

All reposts very much appreciated as I am hoping I can fill these gaps in my schedule this month.
Marta illustrates beautiful chapter headers and other interior art for books and she is spending October creating loads of premade designs that can be purchased from her website.
