I was finishing E. Jean Carroll's new book when I a firefly lit up next to me. Just as I was thinking, "How wonderful," Simon leaped up, grabbed it in his meaty paws and ate it. It's a cruel breed.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

@margaretatwood.bsky.social Questionnaires often include the Q: "You're having a dinner party with 3 guests. Who would you invite?" And so many of answers include you. Who would YOU invite to your dinner party?

Trump tells Zelensky to fold or "fight his little heart out." Where is the world, particularly Europe which could be next? Especially when its people have shown such courage and belief in their country. Where is everybody?https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/11/22/trump-zelensky-russia-plan/
Trump says Zelensky can agree to peace plan or ‘fight his little heart out’
President Trump on Saturday heaped pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky, as he pushed Ukraine’s leaders to agree to a 28-point plan to help bring an end to the war.

Private equity damages every field it enters. Think real estate, health care, child care, education, prisons, retail...
I warned that private equity taking over Walgreens would be bad for workers.

This is the private equity playbook: they hollow out businesses, cheat their workers, and drive them into the ground.

Red Lobster, Toys "R" Us, and Joann Fabrics. Who’s next?
Report: Walgreens cuts hourly workers’ pay for 6 major holidays
The hourly employees will only be paid if they work on those holidays.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

TurboTax makers Intuit have lobbied the government for years to block free public tax-filing.

Now Trump has terminated the free IRS Direct File program, nearly a year after Intuit gave his inauguration $1M.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) actually told the press that Democrats would be the ones hurt most by losing SNAP.

To be fair, since he lives in Florida instead of the state he represents, maybe he doesn’t realize 752,000 Alabamians rely on SNAP—14.6% of the state’s population.
