Meeting the inspiring Hannah Beachler, giving her my drawing, saying “thank you” to her for sharing her incredible words and her talent with the world, and seeing her hand drawn production drawings made this an epic day. I’m thankful to have spent this splendid moment with friends, old and new. 💜

Happy birthday to everybody’s fave cinema girlfriend Maggie Cheung today! An old post regarding where you can stream some of her films including my favorite “In the Mood for Love” (2000).

I will add these restocked autographed “Route” books to my online shop later on this weekend. Only five left including the one misprint. 💜💜💜

Sight of my table with most of the original art. They’re yellowing pretty badly (weren’t made on the right “real” drawing paper). “Aorta” aka “The Kiss” was sold last year to a very nice lady.
Thank you to all who took the time to talk to us and complimented our work at the library today. 💜

This Saturday, September 20th is the Writers & Authors Symposium at Dayton Metro Library, 10am-5pm. Alongside other local writers/authors, I will be there— selling and autographing “Route.” Unfortunately (and thankfully) only one “Route” copy was misprinted, the insert page being on the wrong side.

Reminder that September is #DirectedByWomen Month. There’s a slew of excellent freely accessible content available on platforms like kanopy, YouTube channels (reel black and UCLA are faves), and solidarity cinema’s plex.

As my hair continues growing and thickening, it is becoming difficult to braid— though I’m not truly a gifted braider (or parter) to begin with. 😂
I found this awesome green dress on a random thrift shop visit. 💚

Chelsea Hamilton and her groundbreaking romance with Dr. Madison Montgomery on “Beyond the Gates” is moving at the speed of light. Potential for a future crash and burn? That and a brief recollection of Black sapphic love in film/TV.

I wrote a personal experience essay about my dreams for Chèryl’s character in “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life.” Played by the gorgeous, talented Annabelle Lenghonne, Chèryl the poet could have had something as profoundly romantic as the lead Agathe.

My final essay (and illustration) is up on “the artblog.” I thank everyone I have ever met through my art writing journey on this platform. It was nice to have a comforting home to promote the underrepresented artists, writers, filmmakers, etc.

I absolutely love the Me Toons channel, especially the “Wait Until Your Father Gets Home” cartoon. There’s small similarities between Harry Boyle and Homer Simpson. Yet Harry’s smarter and thoughtful than Homer.
Last night’s episode featured Isabel Sanford’s voice (I recognized her right away). 💜

The 2nd Annual Dayton Black Women’s Film Festival kicks off this Thursday night! 🎥
We’re also selling great merchandise including stickers, posters, and magnets. Two team members designed the layout for our new journals. I hand drew the illustrations used for the cover. #art #illustration #drawing

Be very aware that America is now a fascist state where political opposition and citizens are kidnapped and disappeared for exercising their human and constitutional rights.
It is no longer business as usual no matter how much the media and people want to pretend otherwise.

The Atlantic recently referenced an old article about ballet flats. I’m neither a teen or a twentysomething. These have been my favorite shoes to wear during the spring and summer for years now. I just prefer being on the ground, short and present, no hurt feet or feelings. 🥿
