Nothing says pure racism quite like MAGA condemning Mayor-elect Mamdani for wanting all elementary school students to learn Arabic numerals when Arabic numbers are literally 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc. Hatred and stupidity go hand in hand.

Honestly the USA is overdue for a proper center-left democratic socialist party like most other high GDP countries have. Ala Spain or various Scandinavian countries. Hell, even Mexico has one!
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
