By waiting until now to fire Bray, with nothing left to salvage from the season and the fanbase openly hostile, Oregon State appears reactionary and panicked.

In selecting Bray's replacement, AD Scott Barnes must be intentional and aggressive.

A position he never aspired to was foisted on him in a moment of panic. Of course Bray failed.

Statement from Oregon State confirming Robb Akey will serve as interim head coach.
billoram.bsky.social
The likely choice for interim at Oregon State, per a source, is Robb Akey, who came on this year as a special asst to Trent Bray and became the interm ST coordinator last week. Former head coach at Idaho and DC at Central Mich and Washington St. OSU officials meeting at 10 a.m. to discuss options.

On Saturday, Curt Cignetti didn’t have to talk his talk. Mr. ‘Google Me’ didn’t have to boast, preen or relieve himself at the center of the giant ‘O.’ No, the Indiana coach and his team took care of all of that on the field.

Column from a day it rained inside Autzen Stadium:
Hoosier daddy? Oregon’s answer might be Curt Cignetti| Bill Oram
The boastful Indiana coach didn't need to talk his talk after the Hoosiers' 30-20 win at Autzen Stadium. His coaching took care of that.

This has just been a whale of a game.

OSU should have given Wake's backup QB $1.5 million.

Ryan Leaf on The CW after the Beavers last series:

"In and out of every week we just see some plays here or there where he’s just flippant with his technique and that’s what really costing this football team.”

Keeping an eye on OSU-Wake from Eugene and, man, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a quarterback less accurate on short and medium throws than Maalik Murphy.

Oregon-Indiana is shaping up to be every bit the battle of heavyweights it was billed as.

Impressive sequence for the Oregon defense and the loud Autzen crowd. Indiana had third-and-1 from the 31. After two penalties and a sack, the Hoosiers end up punting out of their end zone.

Great crowd at Autzen today.

No. 3 and No. 7, coming up.

Washington State, in an unprecedented situation after losing its conference, coach and players, has a 14-10 second-half lead over No. 4 Ole Miss in Oxford.

No excuses. Just ball.

Amazing how a coaching change can invigorate a listless team.

Baseball is beautiful.

Congrats, Mariners. Good for Seattle. Great for the Northwest.

I didn’t say it mattered. Just that it was an eye-popping number.

I went to bed early last night. I saw what I needed to see from Shaedon Sharpe and Toumani Camara.

But the Warriors scored 51 POINTS in the fourth quarter???

Jake Dickert is the one coach to lose a game vs Oregon St in the last year.

He brings 3-2 Wake Forest to Corvallis on Saturday. He said "the narrative is wrong" on Trent Bray.

“I know exactly what he’s going through."

Disagree.

He would have had to stick it out at Washington St to truly get it.

Dickert bailed on Washington State while Oregon State has had no choice but to sift through realignment's rubble.

That game was yet another example of Beavers failing with multiple chances to get just one yard.

I misread the Houston chart, so you're right. But I do think the point still stands: Had a golden chance to still win in overtime, came off with no points. If you want to say that was because they couldn't trust the special teams to make a FG, that's definitely fair.
