Reminder: this👇 is Monday evening!!
Something really good thing this could unlock is deliberate bike+transit installations. Other than CitiBike near transit, NYC doesn't have any real developed bike & ride program. We need secure bike parking (& connecting bikeways) at outer ends of subways & rail like the Port Washington branch
Good that this is (finally) moving. But let's note that 500 sites in a city our size is a toe in the water, nothing like meeting citywide needs.
London is an order of magnitude ahead of this target already (~5,000 sites, and not counting 🚲 parking at transit sites - more of a no-brainer there)

Good that this is (finally) moving. But let's note that 500 sites in a city our size is a toe in the water, nothing like meeting citywide needs.

The NYC Streets Plan law requires the city to build 250 miles of protected bike lanes by 2026.
Here’s a suggestion for 4 miles of bike lanes that the next mayor will have to add to meet that goal.

Get you a mayor that gushes about grade-separated bike lanes when traveling the world!
I like these sidewalk-level bike lanes that also have separation from pedestrian space on the sidewalk with pretty materials like cobblestone and/or trees.
