We have laws to deal with crimes linked to protest. What this is really about is ministers complicit in the Gaza atrocities seeking to silence dissent, says actor Juliet Stevenson

“The BBC’s reputation is held by everyone and when someone makes a mistake, it costs us.” Seldom was a truer word spoken, Tim Davie. Your whole tenure has been a mistake with an incalculable cost. #andEnglandUnderTheDregsOfMen

In 48 hours, over 200 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.

Keir Starmer’s government still won’t condemn Israel or call it genocide. Won’t end arms sales. Won’t impose sanctions. Won’t stop trade.

This isn’t just complicity, it’s collaboration. They have blood on their hands.

I’ve joined 41 MPs demanding that David Lammy comes clean over damning allegations that UK arms exports to Israel continued despite a supposed suspension.

If true, it would be a grave breach of the Ministerial Code — & raises urgent questions about whether Parliament was misled.

For the first time in over 20 years, Israel has deployed tanks in the West Bank, after expelling 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps.

This is a prelude to full annexation, and makes a mockery of the ceasefire agreement that Israel continues to violate. [1/3]

Once in a while, please stop what you are doing and give a thought to those who have sacrificed their freedom in the fight to stop climate breakdown

I was one of a group of Just Stop Oil activists given the longest-ever UK sentences for peaceful protest after blocking a motorway. Six months into my incarceration, this is what I have learned

@masieghart.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... doesn’t have all the answer. The scourge of male sexual aggression is also due to fundamental differences between m and f sexuality. Even humble, respectful men will fantasize in private about such acts. It’s not wholly about power.
Why do some men behave badly? I think I have the answer
From an early age boys are treated as though they are smarter and more talented than girls. It can lead to a damaging overconfidence

We need to talk about dying
The assisted dying debate has been filled with horror stories of miserable ends. But does this reflect the reality of ordinary death?

The alliance of independent MPs have written to Keir Starmer to ask if he's received legal advice over the definition of genocide.

This comes after Starmer repeatedly refused to recognise Israel's genocide in Gaza.
