That's almost why they're like that! She had really bad arthritis. Other adaptive stuff includes the room with 7 (I think?) fireplaces, for when the cold makes things hurt more.

I also use thinkchecksubmit.org, but I also hand some of the process back to the faculty member and their subject knowledge: Would they respect a paper published in that journal? Do they recognize any of the editorial board as experts in the field? Neither is a definitive answer; just data points.

They're a project manager, but I think theirs works for #medlibs who do evidence synthesis too.

*Especially* if you hated PE in school. There's all kinds of stuff that's more fun/satisfying than what was expected for class. Keep trying things until you find one or some that you like.

CAPTCHAs are ontologically distressing. Should the pole supporting a traffic light be included in the concept of traffic light? How little of a bicycle can still be considered a bicycle?

I'm a Believer. Though that could be played at regular speed for comedy-horror.

Is Unpaywall (unpaywall.org) any help? It searches for copyright-compliant open access versions of papers across journals and repositories.

For in-person access, not just alumni! For some colleges and universities, anyone can go in and use the stacks; sometimes the databases, too.

He performed at the Medical Library Association's annual conference last year! Minus the flames, though.

And the technically-matron of honor; divorced and not sure she can trust love any more watching their antics, not noticing that she is being watched by their captain.

Also, the more you learn, the more you’ll realize there is a lot more to discover. Being one of the 10,000 is a lifelong journey.

Comic panel. The left panel has text: "I TRY NOT TO MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE FOR ADMITTING THEY DON'T KNOW THINGS. BECAUSE FOR EACH THING 'EVERYONE KNOWS' BY THE TIME THEY'RE ADULTS, EVERY DAY THERE ARE, ON AVERAGE, 10,000 PEOPLE IN THE US HEARING ABOUT IT FOR THE FIRST TIME." Below this, calculations are shown: "FRACTION WHO HAVE HEARD OF IT AT BIRTH = 0%", "FRACTION WHO HAVE HEARD OF IT BY 30 ≈ 100%", "US BIRTH RATE ≈ 4,000,000/year", "NUMBER HEARING ABOUT IT FOR THE FIRST TIME ≈ 10,000/day". The right panel has text: "IF I MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE, I TRAIN THEM NOT TO TELL ME WHEN THEY HAVE THOSE MOMENTS. AND I MISS OUT ON THE FUN." Below this, two stick figures are talking. The first stick figure, with black hair, asks, " 'DIET COKE AND MENTOS THING'? WHAT'S THAT?" The second stick figure replies, "OH MAN! COME ON, WE'RE GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE. WHY? YOU'RE ONE OF TODAY'S LUCKY 10,000."

Yeah, I like my fun socks too. And they make me feel better about my ugly podiatrist-prescribed shoes.

But then I'm also in a job where I need to look approachable to nervous patrons, not in charge of the survival of a nation.

@foxfeather.bsky.social is a licensed wildlife rehabber (w/no gory pics) and educator (mostly birds AFAIK). In addition to pics from those endeavors, you get their emus and other farm birds, plus bonus yaks. Has charming vulture ambassadors.

JAMA had am article yesterday on how cystic fibrosis has gone from fatal to treatable. The scientific development has been going on longer than 10 years, but a major treatment came out in 2019.
It joins congenital heart disease as a condition where we now need research on the patients in adulthood.

I keep thinking about NPR's article about deadbots from last week. It feels like tinfoil-hat territory, but this *is* the stupidest timeline.

Comprehended means both overcome and understand, making it a lovely word to use for this passage.
