I appreciate your consideration and think the context is so critical. When “OCD” is casually used to describe quirks or traits like being meticulous etc. it can diminish the real distress and impairment associated with the disorder
When “OCD” is used as an adjective, it trivializes and invalidates the real suffering and courage of people living with this serious and debilitating condition.

📣 New Pub 📣

We captured 30-day emotion intensity & dysregulation data from EMA & examined in relation to cortisol (from hair) during the same period. Emotion intensity & hair cortisol levels were significantly associated among women with high (but not low) emotion dysregulation.
Thank you to the welcoming graduate students in @stresslab.bsky.social (@hodiana.bsky.social + a few Blueskyless folks!) for curating this lovely waiting area outside my office.

Grateful to belong to @nicoleweiss.bsky.social’s phenomenal team 🤗

Went to dinner last night with @heatherschatten.bsky.social & our new R01!!! We're using the BACtrack Skyn & EMA to examine the timing & mechanisms underlying alcohol use & suicide risk.

I'm excited to be doing work that matters with close friends (also @lesliebrickphd.bsky.social and Amy Stamates)

Proud to empower our community through naloxone distribution on IOAD. Community engagement is more than research; it's action. @nicoleweiss.bsky.social @benjaminwkatz.bsky.social @hodiana.bsky.social (and many others!)
Lovely new neighborhood views ☺️
These findings are preliminary and need to be replicated using longitudinal designs. However, findings point to potential intervention and prevention implications.
More frequent lifetime occurrences of sexual orientation-related victimization were indirectly associated with greater past-month posttrauma RSDBs via greater trauma symptoms due to discrimination, and, in turn, greater emotion dysregulation.
Specifically, we tested a model examining the serial roles of trauma symptoms due to discrimination and emotion dysregulation in the association between sexual orientation-related victimization and posttrauma RSDBs.
Building on this descriptive paper, our study aimed to investigate culturally-specific and nomothetic risk factors of posttrauma RSDBs in a sample of 139 trauma-exposed sexual minority adults.
Earlier this year, @nicoleweiss.bsky.social and I published a paper characterizing the rate of past-month posttrauma reckless/self-destructive behaviors (RSDBs) among trauma-exposed sexual minority adults.
New paper published in Psych Trauma:

Sexual Orientation-Related Victimization and Posttrauma Reckless and Self-Destructive Behaviors among Trauma-Exposed Sexual Minority Adults

This grief is palpable *and* will open space to embrace the changes to come in the field. At least that’s what I keep telling myself 🙃
Thank you for everything, Brian 💛
