Overall, though, I like this more than my X experience this decade.

Would be nice if volume in non-game periods increased, but not the end of the world.

The big difference, X debates — especially if you're a bigger account — are insanely ad hominem. There are way more good-faith discussions here.

I took it to jury duty yesterday because IMO, it's way more efficient on multiple fronts to park in Midtown and ride than to deal with downtown traffic, garages, etc.

Spoiler: Everybody left me alone and I left them alone, and it was a clean and pleasant experience, amazing concept

That said, @howardbeck.bsky.social is right that it would help a ton if bigger media accounts posted here. That's what can drive off-peak discussions in a non-trolly way.

IMO, BlueSky sports discussions *during* games are proof of concept that it can work. You just need more thought leaders

Activity is good *during* live games. The post volume is at least decent, and average quality is higher, IMO.

There is a lull in non-game periods, but I'm okay with it. Quite frankly, the "pass the time" sports debates at X are usually engagement grifts by trolls or teenagers.

I'm curious -- coming up on a year since many of us migrated -- how fellow denizens of #NBASky feel about this. I don't miss the other place. Feel like I'm getting plenty of NBA chatter and feedback here. (Though, admittedly, I do wish more of my media peers would post regularly.)

I AM really struggling with how little NBA talk there is on here and I'm tired of pretending I'm not. Ratio me, it's a badge of honor.
bendubose.bsky.social
I'm increasingly convinced that most people are just bored with too much time on their hands, during which they dream up insane cowboy scenarios they need to protect themselves from
bendubose.bsky.social
Does that mean I'm cheering for them this series, of course not. But, worth noting
bendubose.bsky.social
Not to be that guy, but the Dodgers winning the NLCS is probably the best-case outcome to prevent the awful scenario

“Freeman deep drive to…” cutaway to random fans “and that’s a double!”

what in the hell just happened in Milwaukee

The AL West winning three World Series in four years will be pretty wild

Shoutout to all the experts who acted like Friday’s 15 inning game was a big deal

Three batters into Game 2 of the ALCS, the Mariners lead 3-0. Julio Rodríguez took a hanging splitter from Trey Yesavage out into left field. A nightmare start for the Blue Jays. A dream continuation of last night from Seattle.

Update on my rescue dogs: Two of the three have been adopted and are thriving in their new homes! 🫶

Still looking for a foster/adoptive family for this little dude, who we’ve nicknamed Tux. As you can see, he is adjusting well to life as a couch potato.

If you live in HOU and are interested, lmk.

I protested the Mizzou-Alabama refs yesterday, I hope that counts

And on some level, I respect it, sports fandom gets crazy. I do it, too. Just own it!
rationalastros.bsky.social
Maybe if their fans didn't talk to us like we're the antichrist for being fans of the Astros they'd get some support.
bendubose.bsky.social
Well, and what I didn't respect, he rarely owned it. On socials, it was passive.

Just be transparent. I'm not an extreme boycott based on politics person, but the whole "pretending to be neutral" act gets annoying
bendubose.bsky.social
Also, DET had a bit of an artificial advantage versus the Mariners in that there was no Bryan Woo.

That's another part of why the "but it went 15 innings!" was overrated, SEA had another stud in reserve, should they advance.

I'm a hater, but it's an insanely good roster
bendubose.bsky.social
NYY was never as good as the record and run differential. Buck Martinez nailed it
bendubose.bsky.social
Again, there’s a pretty clear talent gap, and the Ms haven’t even used their good starters yet.

Anything is possible because it’s baseball, but DET is better than TOR on paper, in my opinion.
sharonawrites.bsky.social
The Mariners threw 100 pitches total in this game. Unreal.

The Blue Jays went 1 for 28 after that first pitch home run.
bendubose.bsky.social
There were a few other examples, this was just one that stood out to me. Ran straight to Fox News national lol
bendubose.bsky.social
The fanbase has attacked me personally, numerous times, because of the team I like. Not the end of the world, it’s the Internet, but I’m not gonna have warm fuzzies
bendubose.bsky.social
Again, baseball hate isn’t real hate, let’s be clear. But when you wage (sports) war for years, it’s gonna go both ways!

Ms have an amazing team, don’t worry about us, we’re probably going to be irrelevant for a while.
bendubose.bsky.social
People from Houston that you all hate!

It’s fine, it’s just baseball, but it’s a real rivalry lol
bendubose.bsky.social
IMO, both the Mariners and Tigers are better than Toronto. Hope this ages poorly.
bendubose.bsky.social
Because I’m from Houston
mobiusstripmall.bsky.social
How could you be a Mariners hater?
