An innocent bystander popping in on my brother & myself smoking a joint down an alleyway prior to attending a matinee screening of Star Wars in ‘77. We offered him a toke, which he politely declined.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

A midnight screening of The Song Remains the Same in the late 70s or early 80s preceded by a tribute to Skynyrd sponsored by Pepsi. When the Skynyrd tribute was over the guy in front of us lit a match & held it up high. The volume was cranked up. There was drinking, smoking, & a rowdy atmosphere.

The topic of this concert came up in conversation yesterday without me realizing until later it was the 18th anniversary. I love serendipitous moments like that.

This was a fun & informative one. While I’ve looked up the song that was #1 the day I was born I don’t recall spending a significant amount checking out other music from that year. For one thing, if the Billboard charts are any indication, it appears The Twist was still all the rage.

Parting words today from a co-worker that’s going on to bigger & better things, “Don’t let this place get to you.” It’s a bit too late for that, unfortunately.

I heard the news today, oh boy…
45 years ago I was 18, attending my first year of college. I heard the initial report on WQDR before drifting off to sleep. The next morning I woke up to my Dad standing in the doorway of my bedroom confirming the news. The rest of the day remains a blur.

I gather this is more Spotify bullshit. I don’t give a God damn what my “listening age” is. Who my “top” artists are or what songs/albums I listened to the most (or least). I listen to music because I love it. I have no interest in how it all breaks down via statistical analysis. How fucking boring.

Of all things I’m getting sucked into an episode of Flipper. I’m not sure when I last watched the show (Nick at Nite?) but I loved it as a kid. Still do, apparently.

It depends on mood, land speed, & temperature. At the moment I’m full of songs of sadness, severe depression, isolation, & yearning.
i just want to know what songs you're made of

Maybe someone can explain to me why someone would knowingly pay to see an artist they admittedly don’t like just to make fun of them? Why waste your time? Why not pay to see someone you actually enjoy?

Since I was able to read Cameron Crowe’s The Uncool in two weeks I believe my level of reading might be back up to where it once was so I grabbed these previously unread books out of storage.

I’ve been wanting to watch this since I 1st heard about it last year. It’s the 1st film I’ve watched (that isn’t a doc) since Wildcat a year or so ago. Due to the manner in which the story unfolds it could be a bit difficult to follow at times but nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

I would be far more interested in BlueSky if all of my friends that created accounts here in protest against Zuckerberg, Musk, etc. actually utilized their accounts. Since they don’t, the plus is less time on anti-social media.
I'm pretty selective about who I follow here because I'm not interested the viral end of social media where the same things get reposted over & over. I've no interest in what's trending.

I like personal observations, replies, art & music.
that's about it.

Unpopular opinion but this is one reason why I don’t post my favorites of the year list before its time.

“The smell of hospitals in winter
And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters
But no pearls
All at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way that light attaches to a girl…”

Everything’s ok. This song just came to mind while waiting for a loved one to have a standard procedure done.
