This is some detail from the Elephant Trunk Nebula, a highly compressed globule of intersetllar dust and gases that is shaped by the winds from a massive triple star system HD 206267A. This is a region of star formation, with some stars beleived to be under 100,000 years old. (6hrs SHO, Oct 15) 🔭

A large dust cloud (to me reminicent of the shape of an upturned waiter's friend type of wine opener) stretches acrorss the whole image obscuring the light from more distant stars. An oxygen rich teal dominates the left of the image, with hazing of red from sulphur showing on the right and accenting the borders of the dust cloud. It mixes to a muddier hue with the dominant hydrogen cloud structure, here providing the green channel.

i purchased Killers of The Flower Moon. it's a 3 hour film depicting (their version) the story about these 3 sisters and their family and tribe. i'm nervous tho bc i know there is going to be shady business and death 😓 i know i'm gonna be sad and angry at the end, but i'm gonna watch it anyways.

i was watching a documentary and heard of the Osage people- i had to know more. i looked them up and found a heading that read "The Decimation..." 💔 which then brought me to a b&w photo of 3 women, "The Burkhart" sisters 😢

My task on #MosaicMonday, as mosaicist's apprentice, was to build these mounds of tesserae, in preparation for creating a two-strand, three-colour guilloche. It will be the ceramic equivalent of a Victorian embroidery sampler.
