They certainly want us to think they're not very bright, but I'll suggest they know exactly what they are doing and are using perceived stupidity to create plausible deniability that allows them to openly do what they are doing without being stopped.

I think for most it's as you say, they're not making the connection between actions and results, often because their wages depend on it. There are others who understand the connection, but are driven by insatiable greed that overrides concerns of consequences. The psychopaths. They're killing us all

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

If Carney, Eby, Smith, etc are using Trump as an excuse to build more fossil fuel infrastructure they aren't fighting Trump, they're colluding with him.

If "Good Politician" and "Bad Politician" both work for fossil fuel interests there are no good politicians.
