A bit late, but here's November's experiment.
I used a lot of photos in building the background of this one, and between that and the inclusion of flat elements, I think it turned out to be a really interesting piece!

Digital illustration incorporating photography. The picture shows a pixelated knight (my character Lubi) swinging a sword. The pose of the character is referenced from a sprite in the game Barbarian 2 for Commodore 64, while using a CGA palette. The character was initially made in pixel art, but was then hand-traced at a larger scale, making the finished version a drawing, not a pixel art. He has pinkish-red skin and is wearing only a green helmet, a red loin cloth and turquoise boots. The top of his helmet is on fire. The ground is made of several photobashed photos of rocks, which I digitally painted over to create a strange, plasticine-like texture. The rocks are very colourful, mostly red, green and purple. There are a few flat flowers and grasses added to the ground for additional detail, and fish skeletons swimming through the water in the foreground on the right side. The background is very dark but very textured, partially from photo particles, partially due to the additional paper texture I overlaid it with. The left-side of the background is a photo of a lighthouse in the distance I took at night, it's light reflecting in a straight line in the water below. The right side of the image is largely just a textured dark grey, but there is a flat sideways-facing hand floating in mid-air in a red-blue-green gradient, with three pink hearts extending from its palm, somewhat evoking a health bar.

25羽め：鵸䳜(Qi-tu)。3つの首と6つの尾を持ち、よく笑うカラスに似た鳥。服用すると(と平凡社ライブラリー版には書かれているので、食料というより薬のような立ち位置なのだろうか？)夢でうなされることがなくなり、凶を避けるのにも良い。Moaさんの据え置き型が良デザなのでどんな作画にするかめちゃくちゃ悩みました。ケルベロス型はもう何回か描いてはいるので面白味に欠けるけど、せっかくカラス似なのでもっふもふの黒猫みたいにしてみました。目や口だけが描かれてる毛玉、けっこう好き。

28羽め：鸀鳥(Chu-niao)。身体は黄色、赤い足、6つの首を持つ青い鳥。脈絡は全くないのですが、なんとなく今日見た石蕗の花を思い出して、花に擬態する鳥として描いてみました。きっと翼も目立たずヒヨコみたいな身体をしている。日中は花のふりをして、寄ってきた虫を食べて暮らしている…など自由に空想しました。獲物を巡って首同士で小競り合いすることも。よろめいているところを捕食される。
