A lovely tribute to a great man and filmmaker. I am still gutted today.
Rob Reiner, who was killed on Sunday, built a remarkable acting and directing career that went far beyond his comic origins. David Sims on his quiet brilliance and always surprising versatility:

So my cat is at the vet, having bitten his own tongue in a redirected aggression fight with his kitty brother last week, I’m at the doc for my Medicare wellness check, and all I want to do is go home, crawl under the covers, and sleep.

Rob Reiner had one of the greatest movie runs in history.

Look at these classics.

5 in a row.

Doesn't even include This is Spinal Tap. The Sure Thing was between Spinal Tap and Stand By Me, and was a fine movie.

Huge talent. And now it's appearing to be a homicide.

I am just gutted. Rob Reiner gave us so much joy and laughter. If he’d done nothing but “The Princess Bride” it would have been enough. But he did so much more.

I must also note that he was Jewish and an outspoken liberal opponent of the current regime. And it was the first night of Hanukkah.

I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.

It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.

"The cruelty is the point" is far too tame a term for this. The man is a sadist to a degree that makes it all but certain that whatever Jeffrey Epstein did, he did right along with him. This man is a monster.

Remember when people thought Roberts was concerned with his legacy and then that he would become the swing vote? LOLOLOLOLOLOL. The faith that people have in our systems would be charming if it weren't going to turn us into a Christian nationalist kakistocratic theocratic autocracy.

The bottom 90% lost a collective $79 trillion in wages over the past 50 years.

Why? Because the top 1% ate up an increasingly larger share of the national income — so that $79 trillion flowed to them instead of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

I'd like to hear what Jake Tapper thinks of this and why he's just fine with it.
Trump dozes while Marco Rubio speaks to him directly next to him. Just insane optics.

Why is the Fourth Estate completely unconcerned with the fact that Donald Trump always claims to know nothing about what his cabinet members are doing when those things might be a problem for him? Either he's a liar or he's not running the show, and you'd think that would at least pique curiosity.

So hear me out here. If a highly armed militarized city, along with the MOST SECURE zip code in America just by default, couldn't stop a whacko armed with one of the hundreds of millions of firearms in this country, what will an additional 500 troops do?

Tapper should have continued to hammer him on this. Bill Cassidy is the ONE person who is both a medical professional AND the deciding vote to confirm Gimme Wormbrain to be the head of HHS. He should lose his medical license and be shunned by all for the rest of his life.
CASSIDY: I know it's titillating, but I think we need to move beyond the titillation

TAPPER: This isn't about titillation. This is about the fact that you are the chairman of the health committee and you voted to confirm somebody that by all accounts is actually making America less healthy

This is the correct take. Whoever is refusing to comply with fascism from inside the Coast Guard, thank you.

To everyone holding the line for democracy from within the government, the American people thank you.
Behind this important reversal is a member of the Coast Guard who saw what was happening and had the courage to leak it to the press. That person deserves serious praise.

Everyone has forgotten that it was the late Dick Cheney who, in the run-up to the Iraq War in 2003, coined the "1 Percent doctrine." This states that if there is a 1% chance something is true, you proceed as if it were certain. Gimme Wormbrain's CDC yesterday showed what folly that idea is.
