LTNs: what the latest evidence tells us: that people living in LTNs reduced the distance they drove by around 6% more than those living outside them. Quieter streets make local journeys feel safer and more appealing on foot or by bike.

LTNs and safer streets. Evaluations in places such as Waltham Forest and Oxford show similar results on safer streets, with some neighbourhoods seeing injury numbers fall by close to half once through-traffic was removed from residential streets.

LTNs: what the latest evidence tells us. A major 2025 study examining 113 LTNs across London over more than a decade found that road traffic injuries fell by 35% within LTN areas, with an even greater reduction in serious and fatal injuries.

Background Between 2015 and 2024, 113 Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) were implemented across Greater London, with 27 subsequently removed. We investigated their impacts on road traffic injuries inside LTNs and on ‘boundary roads’ immediately surrounding the LTNs.

Not much info but it seems that they are "exploring new approaches". We don't know what this means yet.

New study: LTNs reduce casualties at junctions between minor and boundary roads by 14%.
So, LTNs don't just make internal roads safer, they also make junctions with boundary roads safer, with no negative impacts on other boundary road junctions. 💚💚💚

Maybe this is why some are concerned about the possibility of new traffic restrictions in the area, while it seems nobody wants to lose the existing Barnsbury road closures and restrictions.
