Ah, I see, defining first halves as before/after the break, rather than the first/second 13. Same idea either way.
Something doesn't quite add up there--you've got 29 first-half games and 19 second-half (even accounting for '25 being incomplete). But the basic point stands. By my count, a season composed of Utah's latter halfs would put them in third behind the Spirit this season...
I think "offense" here means an offside offense. Challenging for the ball (even fairly) from an offside position falls under "interfering with an opponent", which is one of the ways to commit an offside offense.

The DC Cir majority lifts the ban on firing CFPB staff bc there was “no…statement, written or oral, purporting to shut down the CFPB” & noting the gov’t “does not claim the power to ‘shut down’ the CFPB.”

But then AG Bondi tweets out: actually, that’s been the plan all along!

we all literally lived a miracle and yet it’s been completely buried, republicans somehow spun it into a full scale attack on all vaccines and most democrats refuse to talk about it as the scientific marvel it was
I got a flu booster today and it made me reflect on the sense of national accomplishment I felt when I drove to a public facility, waited in my car until my number was called on an app, and got my first covid jab. It's fucked the right gets to erase what a moment of technological liberation that was
Already the case that the kicker can't touch the ball a second time e.g. if the ball comes off the post. But it would not be crazy to extend that to say no second touch after a deliberate save by the goalkeeper. Maybe IFAB will take that up someday.
This is my new nightmare as an amateur youth ref. Takes her eyes of the play for a half second, misses a serious injury, and 6 seconds later ball's in the back of the net. Wonder why the 4th official didn't clue her in tho. Language barrier? Main crew was Portuguese and 4th was Bulgarian.
Yeah, the LOTG define deliberate play as more than just intending to touch the ball. "Deliberate play" is defined to be when the player has control of the ball with the possibility to pass, clear, or gain possession. The header was deliberate, but, to me, reasonable to say she did not have control
Generally speaking a desperate header like Wheeler made isn't enough to be a "deliberate play" that would negate offside; I see why the call was made.

(Recipe if anyone is interested; no idea how they compare to Kingsbury's version, but they're quite good)
With the #NWSL Final this weekend, felt appropriate to make another batch of the S'mores cookies inspired by Aubrey Kingsbury's appearance on @heyspirits.bsky.social this year. Hope to enjoy some to celebrate a Spirit win...
This. On the first one in particular I wondered if they might call it back, but on the replay it's pretty clear she moves almost straight sideways along the line. No question at least part of one foot was over the line when the ball was kicked.
