Unabashed nerd. More to come in the future.
So I see @edfringe.bsky.social has announced the first batch of shows for 2026. How many have I shortlisted already? Only a couple.

Dozen. A couple dozen. 24 shows have piqued my interest, and it's only February.

Bagpipes are obnoxiously loud and sound like they're being forced to produce music. As an instrument, they were built for saying fuck you. I love them so much.
Jack Duffy attaches a respirator to his bagpipes to play through tear gas. “I always play it whenever the police retreat because it's like, ‘You fucking ran while we stayed,’” he says.

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

New Muppets show is pretty fun. I would absolutely love to see more.

If I had one recommendation going forward though, it'd be to ditch the CGI. Muppets are at their best with practical effects. If the skit hinges on a wind machine, use an actual freaking wind machine.

Why is the key mapping for the PlayStation media player so janky? Every other media app uses X as Play/Pause, but the native media app for physical discs? It's like they rotated the mapping 90° for shits and giggles.

I think I might take one of these "under 20 minutes" AI skills courses the UK Govt. seems very keen on everyone doing and live-post it here... Maybe we can all learn something together! The press release sends me to aiskillshub.org.uk/aiskillsboost/ - let's go and see!

So much for People Make Glasgow.
NEW: Glasgow City Council has just approved a massive AI-generated mural to be painted in the city centre.

The illustration of Scottish elements inexplicably contains a bald eagle.

The planner says those upset about it are "keyboard warriors" who should "calm down"

One of the most popular and crowd-pleasing arias in classical opera, "Perché non c'è cibo nella mia ciotola, donna?" tells an emotional tale of a desperately malnourished waif and translates into English as "Why Is There No Food In My Bowl, Woman?"

Pogs.

Oh, you want more details? You stacked some cardboard discs on top of each other, then threw a heavier disc at them. But not the metal one, that was cheating.

Any that fell wrong side up, you got to keep. We did this for fun for about three months, then collectively decided to stop.
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

It's now the month of the Snorse.

New Years Day is a False Monday, no matter what day it actually falls on. The human brain just can't conceive of it not being a Monday, and the later in the week it occurs, the worse it gets.
Why am I seeing people running about and posting about diets? January clearly doesn’t start until Monday.

1? Only 1?! Ooft, ok...
Assuming it's one I enjoyed rather than one I had no business watching, it's got to be Beetlejuice. I must've been 4 at the absolute oldest when I first saw that movie. It became a staple of my childhood, which explains quite a bit.
Name 1 movie from your childhood you were way too young to watch.

I dunno, if it's treated the way George MacDonald Fraser treated Harry Flashman, I could see it working. Here is a complete oaf. Let's torture him as he fails upwards and convinces himself his own stupid luck is in fact skill.
I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him
