(It reminds me of when I first reported damp and mould, over 10 years ago, and 2 operatives visited with one saying "it's your fault for sweating and breathing". Yes, really!

I was subsequently accused of lying about their words until my advocate, who was present during the visit, backed me up.)
And we should have the heating on as long as possible in cold weather. Again, how are people on low incomes supposed to afford this?

Best of all, the flyer states that moisture from breathing is a contributing factor due to causing condensation!

Yes, how terrible that we have the gall to breathe!
Just received a flyer from my social housing landlord, blaming tenants for damp and mould.

Apparently, tenants with no access to an outdoor space should get a tumble dryer. How exactly are people on low incomes (in many cases a pittance) supposed to afford to buy and run a tumble dryer?
I can, very occasionally, manage certain public transport vehicles under specific circumstances when I'm with a support person, but I'm heavily reliant on taxis.

I remember a Transport for London worker aggressively insisting "all our transport is fully accessible".

There's no such thing.

Masking helps us survive, but it’s not sustainable. It’s dangerous to keep hiding pain just to be seen as “acceptable.”
We deserve to be safe as we are
I've struggled to accept my reduced intellectual skills. It's difficult being unable to do or understand things that were easy before.

It's difficult when people who have greater intellectual abilities put me down, particularly in front of others.

I guess I just need to try harder at acceptance.
Admittedly, the "mental breakdown" was never medically identified. The mental health team rejected my referral due to me being too physically and mentally unwell to leave the house for appointments.

I recovered 90-95% from post-viral syndrome but my intellectual skills didn't fully return.
This is difficult for me to talk about but following 2 periods of post-viral syndrome in my late teens and early 20s, plus what the pastoral care lead at my college described as a "mental breakdown", my intellectual and cognitive skills reduced.

Work should not be a healthcare outcome.

It should be the last step of "recovery" for those who are able to get to that stage and for whom it is a positive step.

Employment and healthcare should not be conflated, ever... And if someone can't work, they can't work.

Some people might not see anxiety as a big deal but it’s actually such a nightmare.

You worry all the time about something bad happening , you can’t concentrate, you can’t sleep, your emotions are all over the place, you isolate yourself.

Every day is a struggle but we endure.

Fuck anxiety.
Sorting coins is great! Useful too.

A parent has a superstition that if you give a bag or purse as a gift, you need to put in a coin for luck.

Sorting coins by year means I can easily find one bearing the gift receiver's birth year. I soak and scrub until it's shiny then put it in the bag/purse.

Wes Streeting setting up a "review" of "over-diagnosis" of mental illnesses.

Chosen someone known to be anti-dx (and responsible for the dangerous SIM Model) to lead this. No bias there at all then...

This is just another ploy to minimise mental illnesses & remove support.

This Disability Employment Awareness Month, I'm going to judge companies that are aggressively rolling back work from home.

Two people with the same condition(s) can have vastly different experiences, symptoms, support needs, and qualities of life.

We can't compare any individual to any other, because there are so many variables involved.

It’s wild how often autistic people hear:

“You’re doing so well. I guess you don’t need those accommodations anymore!”

Instead of:

👉 “You’re doing well BECAUSE of that support. Let’s make sure you keep getting it”

And yes… Outgoings really are higher when you’re in hospital. Because we still have to pay our mortgage/rent, still have to pay gas & electric (not actually much less)…

Food is often even more expensive.

Then there’s travel for loved ones, parking, and so much more.

The price of food and bills have sky-rocketed, but support like Universal Credit isn't keeping up.

People literally don't have enough money to live on, and they're having to turn to food banks just to survive.

This isn't right. And it doesn't have to be this way 💚
