Hello to BlueSky and my new followers! Please check out my novellas:

THE NIGHT LIBRARY OF STERNENDACH is a bittersweet vampire opera in sonnets.

THE GLASS GARDEN is space horror.

Covers designed by @kglyder.bsky.social.

My two book covers, against a starry background.

STERNENDACH has red bat wings, a book, and fangs.
THE GLASS GARDEN has a kaleidoscope image on it.

I don't know about by you, but by me the weather is chilly and rainy and dark. I know: perfect.

I'm gonna try to write something, but if you're looking for something to read, here's this.

A fan of big, romantic #musical theatre? Perhaps you'd like my novella in sonnets, The Night Library of Sternendach!

Love #TanzDerVampire? It's got vampires in love.

Adore #TheGreatComet? In this novella, they write letters.

Into #PhantomOfTheOpera? "Opera" right in the title.
The cover of the book in question. Big red bat wings, a book, and fangs, with stars in the background.

I've often said there's a fine line between guerilla marketing and "Ma'am, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store."

I was doing the family grocery shopping when Steely Dan's "Dirty Work" came over the PA and I just sighed.

Good on you!

I'm… not going to make my goal of 100 rejections this year. I just haven't been submitting for the simple reason that I haven't been writing as much and have less to submit. I'll do my best and hope for next year.
authorlevai.bsky.social
That is my submitting philosophy for so many markets.

Welp. Halloween viewings of SLEEPY HOLLOW (1999) and selected spoopy episodes of RIVERDALE completed.

Please back this! I really want to read WITCH OF PRAGUE.
larazontally.bsky.social
Have we mentioned if we hit the Kickstarter goal for WITCH OF PRAGUE, we'll open pre-orders for our second book? According to @courtneymilan.com, @zenaldehyde.bsky.social's THE PERILOUS LIFE OF JADE YEO is "Poignant, beautiful, and incredibly meaningful."

THE GLASS GARDEN, by me.
Cover by @kglyder.bsky.social

The cover of THE GLASS GARDEN, by Jessica Levai, surrounded by arrows indicating tropes, or the author's best guess at them. "Adult sibling drama!" "Eldritch horror!" "Academics… in space!" "Coffee!"
authorlevai.bsky.social
My vampires are all the classic aristocratic tropes but also, and this is not explicitly said in the book but you guys seem cool, my vampires are bound by promises, like in a supernatural way.

Happy Columbo’s Day
Screenshot from Columbo. He his talking to his dog, which is sitting is the drivers seat of a car. “Okay, I’m gonna put you in charge. You take care of the car. You’re a responsible dog. When I get back, if the car’s okay, I’ll give you another cookie.” “If the car’s gone,” “I’ll give you another cookie anyway” “because I love you.”

#VampiresOfTubi: EAT LOCALS

Unsatisfying, but it let me spend some time with actors I like: Freema Agyeman (both prosecutors on L&O UK have played vampires!), that guy who played the king on THE ROYALS. I've never seen Charlie Cox in anything liked him here.

But yeah, the movie just… happens.

I like how that song starts cheesy but not actually bad, and then it just melts down.

Ha! I just watched that this afternoon with my husband and older kid!

It's been forever since I've seen it. Still want Depp's outfit.

I say the same about Doctor Who/Phineas and Ferb.

I'd love for you to read my Shirley Jackson Award-nominated gothic fiction book during the Halloween season.

This is a photo of a paperback copy of The Atrocities by me (Jeremy C. Shipp). The cover features a creepy old manor house, storm clouds, and a hedge maze. The book is against a brick wall with vines growing around and over the book.

This thread inspired me to write to Bookshop, explaining the issue, assuring that I know it's not intentional, asking for maybe a price change of a few cents either way. They replied, saying they'll look into it. Further updates as events warrant.
