📣 NEW! I’ve just released the BIGGEST and perhaps most creative project I’ve ever worked on!

“Searching for Birds” searchingforbirds.visualcinnamon.com 🐤

A project, an article, an exploration that dives into the data that connects humans with birds, by looking at how we search for birds.

Just went on a hunt for some feint childhood memory of what I called “dinosaur song” on one of those “we don’t know where it came from but we’ve had it forever” VHS tapes … just found it, and honestly it still slaps - youtu.be/fNeAINi9omo?...

I've been working on a network of webrings to connect people's hobby sites! I have multiple lines that I visualize as subway lines, so I call it the Smallweb Subway!

Every station is someone's website. You can explore it here:

since no one asked, my pet project is doing great!
I gave up on the inner parts and now I use a fairly sophisticated instanced geometries to handle sub-geometries, multiple UV sets and N-dimensional layouts. #debugviewart

Twist your brain, with the Thatcher Effect: the faces are wrong, but they seem right upside down, because our brain loves to make sense of things, even when they don't.

Been bumbling around with this animated ascii river/generative audio experience for the last week or two, as a little reminder and helper to slow down, breathe and take it idk, as it comes.

Been ruminating on this lately as a maker of small one-off things… years back I’d made console.frog github.com/tholman/cons... … prob took a few hours, would take ai 1 minute. It’s not that my enjoyment from executing on an idea is gone, but the way my work is perceived has shifted.

I have wanted this!
Have you ever wanted a physics simulation with thousands of balls? Have you ever wanted it in the terminal? ...no?

Well, here it is: I just open-sourced ballin, a colorful terminal physics simulator! It's proof that Claude Opus 4.5 can be well-used for fun/silly things.

In 2018 I migrated about 10 sites I had off a static aws bucket (lol) to Netlify, and since then that’s probably bubbled to close to 40 sites. Pretty much can’t imagine building without them. Very proud to be one of the 10 mil!
We just hit 10,000,000 developers on Netlify 🎉

That number is the community: people shipping real sites, real apps, side projects, docs, demos, experiments, and everything in between.

Thank you for building here. 🙏
