I bet he stopped doing all that after the sludge incident bc he was bullied and ridiculed from other peers, unlike himself who only seemed to target deku specifically (not like it's any better), but it was enough for him to tone down his annoying self which is why he kept it more to himself in UA

Deku confirmed he was never popular with girls and even in ep 1 everyone yells at him for bragging about his potential to be a hero unlike the rest
