Day seven of #BonneMaman #AdventCalendar: milk-based, which is what I’m allergic to. Caramel something. It smelled amazing. It’s one of three dairy-based entries this year. The French love their dairy, but I can’t have it.

The costs for a senior to be on Medicare worst case scenario (never contributed in taxes) is $805 per month for 2026 with small deductibles. Worst case.

It’s not right that most of ACA enrollees will pay more than that with massive deductibles for absolute base coverage.

Day six of #BonneMaman #AdventCalendar: Apricot with lavender — meh. Don’t get me wrong. I love apricot and buy the large jars. It’s just that the lavender got lost. It was just a jar of apricot.

Zippy was so annoyed that I was watching Rudolph and not paying attention to him. He made his point.

Watching Wheel of Fortune for the first time in awhile. Is Ryan Seacrest ok? He looks incredibly thin.

Hermey and I are ready for Rudolph. I’ll never forget the guy who had a meltdown because I said Rudolph was the story of every gay kid and the Coach and Dad were toxic. He said I ruined it forever for him. K….

You know the sound a lion makes when it’s happy? That’s literally the sound I made when I tried Day 4 #BonneMaman Apple Caramel Cinnamon.

If I were a cat, I’d be purring.

Also, I’m one of the 25 MILLION individuals, couples, families who get health insurance through the ACA exchange (1 M of us in NC). You’d think that would be a large enough pool but given the premiums we’re seeing, it seems insurance companies are gouging us.
I’m all for paying my share. Next year, I’ll pay $900 per month for a Bronze (very basic) plan. That’s $100/month more than what most mid-level corporate rates are. Plus, most corporations will heavily subsidize because they write off that premium from their taxes. It’s small biz that gets fucked.

We need parity in health insurance. Large plans get premium breaks because of the ‘law of large numbers.’ Small or individual plans pay a heavy premium because there isn’t a large risk pool.

We either need to fix our insurance system or subsidize individuals buying through ACA. Pick one.

#BonneMaman Advent Calendar day 4: Cherry with Violet Leaves. Was it good? Hmm. Well, I wouldn’t say no to it. But I think i would’ve preferred straight cherry.

For those watching The Grinch, a reminder that he didn’t hate Christmas or children. He was just a 53 year old who hated noise, noise, NOISE. in that, I support him entirely.

When I was a waiter, family with 2 little kids made most complete mess imaginable. On the table, floor, seats. Food, utensils, finger smears, you name it. Leaving, the mom said to me “I just needed a break.” Forty years later, when I see a dad refusing to let his kid make a mess, I think “thank you”

#BonneMaman Advent Calendar day 3: Plum-Pear Star Anise. I wasn’t looking forward to this. I really don’t like Licorice. Luckily, I was wrong. Well done. Just the right amount of spice.

Today’s #BonneMaman Advent Calendar flavor: Fig with Cardamom. In less skilled hands, this could easily have gone horribly wrong. But we’re talking about the jelly artisans at Bonne Maman. The spice level was light and perfect. I would buy a large jar of it.
