Hi new peeps!

Burned out artist here, been on a breather for the past year to recover my creative mojo after years of low pay work and now AI...

Anyway here's stuff I have made, I hope you like it!

NGL folks. Moving even just one of these originals would really make a difference for my husband & I with our continually piling up medical bills.🥲 Plz help spread the word, if you can. Even just re-sharing is powerful for small artists like me.🙏
If you've ever wanted to collect one of my originals, here's a great opportunity! I'm offering these pieces currently via the @changelingart.bsky.social's Deck the Halls auction with extremely fair starting bids.

Place your bids here by commenting on the images:

Wow this is very interesting (acetaminophen is also known as paracetamol, Panadol and Tylenol). Believe science not conspiracies
Another ~classique: Acetaminophen eases the pain of social rejection! "Acetaminophen reduced neural responses to social rejection in brain regions previously associated with distress caused by social pain and the affective component of physical pain"
Acetaminophen reduces social pain: behavioral and neural evidence - PubMed
Pain, whether caused by physical injury or social rejection, is an inevitable part of life. These two types of pain-physical and social-may rely on some of the same behavioral and neural mechanisms th...

So sweet
If you need a little hope this morning - the current tween trend involves decorating clothespins with affirming messages, then clipping them on friends' backpacks when they're not looking.

Here are a few that my 11-year-old decorated this weekend ❤️

Today I glazed a painting and began another colour layer for another. It's slow going but at least it's going. Bug decided to land in wet transparent glaze though, so there's something for future archaeologists to clone from lol

Yup
More broadly, VFX bloat is at least 90% a result of poor planning, poor management , and execs/leads generallu treating artists and studios like a black box they email to receive infinite executions, revisions and costly minor variations around the clock and on demand
“I’d like to see the cost of VFX artists come down.” — ‘Avatar’ director and Stability AI board member James Cameron claims effects workers are too expensive, putting blockbusters and the VFX industry at risk.

Here's another reason not to use this broken technology
Today in AI Is Not A Good Source For Learning About The World's Most Misunderstood Body Part, meet this ChatGPT gem.

Funnily enough, we're actually going to talk about how most of this is kinda sorta right (for small values of right), as a cautionary tale about generative AI.

It's good to remember that the reason illustrators aren't able to live off their art now isn't their fault
These are spreads for McCall's magazine by Andy Virgil, 1959. Each spread was paying about $1,500 at that time. Today that would be between $9,000-$12,000. The average price of a brand new car in 1959 was $2,200.

This is not caused primarily by "screen time".

It's been caused by the mass eradication of third places for young people in basically every city over the past three decades - and a society that's hostile to the concept of teens socialising in public spaces.
