How to write like AI:
- be predictable
- be abstract
- never risk humor
- never risk judgment
- use trite, tidy morals
- tie up complexity w/ neat little bows
The societal costs of Big AI's fever dreams keep mounting.
Now we also have to worry about our crumbling roads and bridges and other critical infrastructure projects.

AI data center boom could be bad news for other infrastructure projects
Improvements to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure could take a hit as data center construction accelerates.

As I said already, if Bob Iger is worried about *disruption,* he might want to consider Disney's *theme park business* and what Netflix has been doing.

(FYI Bloomberg, this is why I, a mere rube retail investor, took advantage of that recent "$40 billion wipeout" to start a position in $NFLX.)

The most irksome thing about finance media is the sneering tone and attitude toward what they've dubbed "the retail investor."

Case in point, this annoying piece from Bloomberg:

There are 2 types of 'retail' investors (and consumers).
One cares only about money and returns.
The other considers social impact and values—and refuses to invest in things that don't align with their values.

$TGT hopes to recover its image and “Tar-zhay” but: their values have. not. changed.

The odds are decent that morsels from your life have been used to train chatbots. Which means that you, too, are Time's person of the year, @cwarzel.bsky.social writes.

"Disney wants to 'participate in the rather dramatic growth [of AI] rather than just watching it happen and essentially being disrupted by it,' Iger said."

If Bob is worried about disruption, he might want to consider Disney's theme park business and what Netflix seems to be doing. $NFLX

Here's why the AI-race 'winner' framing is sort of silly.
Netscape ultimately lost the browser wars, sure—but then who actually 'won'? Internet Explorer?? (lol) Google Chrome? Do people these days even stick to just one?

"... designed to serve humanity "

There's a Twilight Zone episode that features superintelligent alien beings and a book w/ the title: "To Serve Man."

I won't spoil the punchline for those who haven't seen it, but those have will get my skepticism / meaning.

The Recording Industry no doubt thinks the same w/r/t its lawsuit-settlement deals w/ (alleged) AI music-copyright-infringers Suno and Udio.

(The RIAA is not exactly known for its foresight and adaptive business thinking though, just saying.)

Will Big Tech ever realize that non-freaks don't think like them?? Most people aren't obsessed with 'efficiency' and a 'maximum' mindset. Most people don't want to wear ugly gadgets on their face/head. The list of rather basic things that Big Tech fails to get could stretch on and on and on.
I will believe AI is a thing when Google maps realizes that I don’t wanna take a total freak show route to where I’m going to save a minute and a half on a one hours drive. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

So a producer of true-crime stories turned *herself* into a true-crime story?? lol, only a reality-tv person could script something like this up.

lol, John Chambers was CEO of Cisco *during the dotcom-bubble burst.*

And Michael Burry recently said this w/r/t shorting Nvidia and the AI bubble: “I stand by my analysis. I am not claiming Nvidia is Enron. It is clearly Cisco.”

"Pluribus" is great! (and Vince Gilligan is a wickedly funny genius). But my god that final sequence in the S2 finale of "Severance"... Hauntingly beautiful, and the show deserves Best Drama.

Could it disrupt AI's current trajectory and take a leading position à la 80-1 longshot Rich Strike in the 2022 Kentucky Derby??

What genius decided that the path to AGI would be an LLM that scraped the *entire* internet??

For one, that's how you end up with AI toys that give sex tips to children (dumdums).

For another, the ROI on scraping the web is rapidly approaching $0 (b/c there's not much left to scrape-steal)
