The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Justice KBJ is a brilliant strategist. She is working the rules to compel timely review of the stay in the SNAP case by both the Circuit Court and by the Supreme Court. This is why knowing which SCOTUS justice has supervision of the Circuit you file in is essential.

The 6th Circuit has been competing to be the most anti-trans circuit in America and is now carving out a right to bully transgender kids.

Despicable.
BREAKING: The Sixth Circuit, in a 10-7 en banc decision, holds that an Ohio school district's anti-bullying policy that requires students to use children's preferred pronouns is likely unconstitutional on these facts.

Judge Murphy, a Trump appointee, writes the court's decision.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

More people have died in ICE custody in last 9 months than in the entire prior 4 years.

We hear of a few, but most barely make the news.

Cases like Randall Alberto Gamboa Esquivel.

He was in perfect health when ICE detained him.

He disappeared in June & by August was in a vegetative state.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

SNAP is not just for the unemployed.

It’s for anyone who’s living below the poverty line, which sadly includes a lot of people who are working full time jobs.

But here’s the thing… even if it were “just” for the unemployed… they still deserve food!

No one deserves to starve.

More people have died this year in immigration detention than any other year in decades.

The best way to prevent abuse and deaths in ICE custody is for Congress to stop funding the ICE detention machine.
ICE is hiring dozens of health workers as lawsuits, deaths in custody mount
Nearly as many migrants have died in detention so far this year than over the four years of the Biden administration.

Trump is looking for any reason to deploy the military to US cities

He wants to go to war with the people

Many of his supporters are fine with it because they’re certain he will only go after people who don’t look like them

That’s not how fascism works

Chicago isn’t a war zone.

Chicago isn’t in a state of emergency.

Chicago isn’t a military training ground.

Chicago isn’t in need of “saving”.

The only threat in Chicago is the ICE fascists who are kidnapping people from their homes at night.

Remove ICE & you remove the threat.

As others have aptly pointed out, we are reminded of Israel's line on Hamas fighters "hiding" among Palestinians. The idea that dozens and dozens of people detained from one apartment building are all gang members is totally batshit.

Yes, it's the same playbook. You are not insane for noticing.

wrote a quick one about the tech companies settling lawsuits with Trump. Yes, it’s cowardice. But it’s also an excuse to behave the way they’ve always wanted to (irresponsibly, with no regard for the consequences of their actions). Which, actually makes them a perfect part of the MAGA coalition

You’re much closer to becoming disabled or homeless than you are to becoming rich and wealthy.

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of.

We need robust social supports & safety nets to ensure everyone is properly cared for.
