Washing your hands with soap and water is important for many reasons - including for handling archives & rare books!
It can prevent the transfer of natural oils, moisture or dirt on to the materials. But make sure your hands are clean AND dry before getting started!

When you think you've seen it all 🤯
A lot of our documents are kept in boxes so tightly that sometimes it's a struggle to fit them back in.
Luckily, we've found this charming diagram from a previous generation of archivist, showing the proper way to fit all the documents back in their right spots.
