We're excited to be bridging policy, markets, and ecology in this modeling projects. More updates to come!

We're piloting this project in the Brigalow Belt, one of Australia’s biodiversity hotspots. Together with local experts, we’re prototyping models that forecast ecosystem responses to land use and climate — giving decision-makers a clearer baseline for assessing restoration outcomes.
apexrms.bsky.social
The goal? Build robust, transparent tools for measuring ecosystem change. Our team at ApexRMS is working with CSIRO scientists to turn conceptual ecological models into quantitative STSMs using #SyncroSim and the ST-Sim package.

🧪🌎 This summer, we kicked off a new collab with @csiro.bsky.social’s Ecological Knowledge System team, supporting Australia’s emerging Nature Repair Market, a voluntary biodiversity credit system rooted in science.

With ecoClassify, you can:
➡️ Classify remote sensing data in a few clicks
➡️ Check accuracy with confusion matrices and other metrics
➡️ See which variables matter most in the classification process
➡️ Feed results into other SyncroSim models for forecasting
apexrms.bsky.social
🧪🌎 Our latest #SyncroSim package is here!

EcoClassify helps you turn raw aerial imagery into classified maps using machine learning, no coding needed. It's all about making image classification for ecology and remote sensing easier and faster.

➡️ Modeled climate + land-use impacts on medicinal plants with the Louis Bull Tribe, where even small restoration efforts showed big gains plant habitat.

➡️ Forecasted bird species habitat with @andreanorris.bsky.social (ECCC), where protecting aspen-rich forests stood out as a key factor.

Understanding how ecosystems respond to disturbance + management is key. Using state-and-transition simulation models (STSMs), we help partners forecast future landscapes and build resilience. Our featured landscape change projects include:

🌎🧪 Not every insight needs a new model—sometimes, you just need a new way to see the one you’ve already built.

With side-by-side map comparison in #SyncroSim Cloud, you can now view two model outputs next to each other and spot key differences across space, time, and scenarios.

Highlights of out visit included:
➡️ Participating in a powerful sweat lodge ceremony
➡️ Reflecting on ancestral fire use + modern wildfire threats
➡️ Visiting Nine Mile Creek, scarred by the 2011 Slave Lake fires
