HELLO FRIENDS

I’ve been away a lot looking after my old mum - still am in fact - sorting her troubles has left me little time to work. So if you like framed vintage jigsaws and stuff, please visit anyoldtat.bigcartel.com.

Rehanging stuff to make space for more stuff.

Trying to shake off some dust, frame some other puzzles, do a bit of resin casting when I can in the run up to the festive season.

But, some old frames I just don’t have the heart to stick puzzles in. Look at these.

This is also an opportune time to say I’ve remounted the Hulk jigsaw in some nice hulk green mount board. Have a look. anyoldtat.bigcartel.com/product/fram...

And - again - the box is incredible too! Check out the space battle someone imagined once!
A not too battered box for the framed jigsaw this post quotes. A very cool space battle drawn by a child a long time ago on the rear of the box. There are flying saucers and alien astronauts attacking (or defending themselves against?) a different design of spaceship. Perhaps an invading race?

FINALLY! Found the time to finish framing this up. In the shop soon.
An 80-piece jigsaw in a box frame with a yellow mount showing Batman and Robin swooping in to confront the Joker in a trash-strewn Gotham City alley. There is a wanted poster behind them showing the Joker’s likeness. Robin, the Boy Wonder The Joker Batman looking intense

Imagine an alternative version of the film

"Sir, someone is stealing the Excelsior!"

Also an opportunity to crowbar in that (if I can find what you want), I can also do commissions.

I scanned the box art to make the labels for all the HG puzzles I do (all puzzles now, in fact) and found a free font that matched the traditional hull typeface.

I wonder if we know that the box art font is?

MICROGRAMMA or EUROSTILE? A handy guide for you to print out and keep in your wallet.
MICROGRAMMA interior corners are usually flattened whereas EUROSTILE interior corners come to a point. The more you know!

I love deep diving into things like this myself.

This evening I have been researching what paints animators used in the 70s, as you do. 🧵

I wanted to identify exactly what colours Filmation would have used in their TAS artwork. Seems like they used Cel-Vinyl, going by the codes used on spec sheets. I found a handy hex value spreadsheet too!
1. Colour swatches for Cel-Vinyl colours from the Cartoon Color Company.
2. Filmation artwork of the USS Enterprise, with some colours specified.
3. Photo of Cel-Vinyl tubes.
4. Scan of a Cel-Vinyl leaflet. The swatches are on the reverse of this. Various colours I have picked from a He-Man spec sheet and put into a palette based on values from a spreadsheet.

This is the thread to read for the universe of fonts in Star Trek
Incredible research by @starfleetdesign.bsky.social

Note this thread started 9 months ago is still updating.

Another thread of Star Trek fonts!

No structure this time, I'm just going to share whatever I can identify in whichever order takes my fancy. These fonts will mostly be official, or notable, or otherwise have caught my eye. 🧵 [1/∞]

Started framing this puzzle up today but unfortunately had to cut it short as mum’s not too well again so I’m on the move for a bit. I’ll let you know when it’s in the shop. In these pics, I’m scanning the box art to make a label. But the scan wasn’t clean enough, old box, so found a logo online.
A marked up mount board, ready for cutting.

Yes, I’ve decided it does.

Does yellow work as a mount colour? Shame I don’t have any purple…
