Without spoiling it, I know it likely won’t be the true end of the series, but the final gameplay screen is such an apt coda for everything these games aim for that I have a hard time imagining they’ll top it with a “true” series finale.

All of this said, this is still a series I admire tremendously. There is such trust in the player and dedication to their lore. I’m having a hard time thinking of more games that so unfailingly blend dark humor, Cronenberg & Fincher unease, and SUCH contempt for humanity’s capability to hurt.

I'd also say some of the hints the game offers were for easier things to discern than I think they realize. At least two things that were hints were things I'd already solved, but there was another aspect within the hint topic that would have been immensely helpful.

As for the art:

I'm playing on console, so this likely isn't an issue for PC players, but one or two sections that required specific identifications were complicated because I literally couldn't discern one object from another, and the color palette muddled distinguishing characteristics.

I think toward the end, the word-filling parts got a bit too vague and required a bit more to complete. It was unclear what, exactly, the game wanted me to “solve” at points.

Having finished this, I’d say this was better than the last DLC but still behind the first two.

Narratively focused far more on the series’ strengths and the lingering dread these games evoke, but some design choices and difficult-to-discern art muddled it a bit.

What's maybe the worst thing, other than Orion having to live with that for at least a whole year, if not the rest of his life, is that it will mask just how short the top of the Phillies’ order was for pretty much that entire series.
