Another beautiful #London map today (Forest Gate, 1867-93), and one that might be a handy accompaniment to the modern resident or visitor, as it details incredible local developments over the last decades of the 19th century. I will turn over the next few posts to the opening words of Tony Kirby…

These words can't be truer than when looking at our #Germany 1940’s series. Read on for some examples...

Your author has a bias when it comes to #Liverpool. For ten years he was a resident, and for several of those he had two full AGM sets of the city on his walls. It is a deep joy to look at a past city in front of you, tracing streets you know so well, seeing lost businesses & forgotten histories.

Walking down Granger Street from the Grey Monument you can’t help but marvel at the impressive curve downhill, mighty Victorian frontages reaching the sky with their stout columns & understated decoration. Old money flows down the road.

Blessings on the parish clerk at St Peter Cornhill in the sixteenth century who recorded relationships, addresses and ages for at least some of those buried there. And in beautiful legible writing.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.
