Couldn't possibly comment....
Oh, and in the process of adjournment the current Mayor lost it and shoved a couple of old men. All very unseemly and brings shame on our council.

Another thing, the agenda did not contain a covering report from officers so was likely to fail the tests in S14 of the LGA (risk of judicial review).
After significant discussion around whether the matter constitutes an emergency (it doesn't) and whether this is an appropriate way to raise a complaint about the election ( it's a matter for individuals or a group of at least 10 electors, not council) the meeting was adjourned until tomorrow.
Argh! What a total pain in the ....
No further information for the public. Hopefully there is a range of information available for the councillors to consider so they can make a well informed decision in the best interests of their communities, albeit with no time to read it if you were traveling from the other side of the district.
I was Deputy Mayor here last term... have tried to respect their right to govern. But this is not governing, it's a power grab. And it could be costly to the ratepayers.
It's my rohe.... would rather not have to pay big legal fees and have a delay getting to a new council.... argh
What would be possible consequences of such a decision? Noting that no agenda has yet been issued with around 90 mins to go.

Wow. This is very worrying. Formal legality aside (outgoing Crs and governing body etc formally stay in office until incoming Crs are declared elected but questions about extraordinary meeting etc), this is almost certainly undemocratic and unconstitutional.

In an effort to avert a decision that could adversely affect Kaipara District Council's reputation, I spoke to my ward councillor about today's emergency meeting on the election. She denied having any connection with Democracy Northland despite being at the DN post election party on Saturday. 🫩

For the life of me, I can't understand why farmers are not leading the charge when it comes to climate change. The impact on them will be (and already is) huge.
