Nearly a year after Greyhound ended bus service, residents of northeast Oregon will again have a public transit option to reach Portland and Boise. The daily service will be operated by Northwestern Stagelines.
Northeast Oregon regains daily bus service to Portland and Boise after an 11-month gap
The new route resumes intercity bus service in the region 11 months after Flixbus (formerly Greyhound) canceled service on the I-84 corridor between Pasco, Washington, and Boise, Idaho.

No community should be forced to bear the weight of a system that profits from human suffering.

Private, for-profit prisons have no place in a fair and free democracy—and especially profiting off the suffering of an inhumane and undemocratic detention system.

Period.

I used to think that originalism had some theoretical flaws that would make it hard to implement in reality. Now I realize that the flaw of originalism is that they just didn’t mean any of it and it’s all just cover for imposing their preferred partisan outcomes.

man, there's an irony in the AI discourse that will make absolutely everyone angry, which is that the people who are likeliest to use these tools effectively are not devs or programmers, they're writers and artists with good read/write communication and perception skills.

Democrat politicians are objecting to the strikes in the Caribbean—as should everyone.

But Democrats have supported the Israeli government in continuously perpetrating precisely these same war crimes, including "double tap" murders in which they strike a civilian target, then hit the survivors.
What are double-tap strikes that Israel used to hit a hospital?
Israel's two strikes on Nasser Hospital are part of a pattern that has run the length of the war, monitors say.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

This is especially bullshit because USTA players are rated by skill level based how much they win against their opponents and if they win too much, they're moved up to the next level with tougher competition until they don't dominate. It's a self-levelling system designed to create even matches.

Recreational USTA league/tournament play is all organized by skill level. And UTR ratings are genderless. People (any people) will be playing against other players at their same level. This is such a dumb transphobic and cowardly policy.

The Trump regime's assault on immigrants does not really target "the worst of the worst." Its aim: to make America whiter.
The crackdown on colleges does not really target antisemitism. Its aim: to crush dissent.
The murders of boat crews is not really about drugs. Its aim: to grab Venezuela's oil.
