Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy - though granted it's the only anime-based game I've managed to play. I remember using the alarm clock feature a LOT.

Also, I'll never fathom how I unlocked one of the minigames on my first playthrough, but never again...

the first Afro Samurai game captures the energy of the anime perfectly and simply has one of the best soundtracks in video games

Astro Boy: Omega Factor. It's based off of the 2003 Astro Boy anime, but it's also a phenomenal love letter to Osamu Tezuka's entire Star System, complete with allusions to his lesser-known manga like X-Point in the Pacific and Marine Express. It's from Treasure, so it uses Gunstar Heroes music too!

Reshef of Destruction is such a love letter to the YuGiOh anime and yet its gameplay should be classified as cruel and unusual punishment. I still love it. Super nostalgic for Falsebound Kingdom, too, which was just reused assets and vibes.
Cover of YuGiOh Reshef of Destruction for Game Boy Advance. Cover depicts Yugi in the front with what I assume is Reshef and Atem in the back. Btw you don't even play as Yugi in this game lmao. Cover of the GameCube game YuGiOh The Falsebound Kingdom. Depicts Seto Kaiba and Atem staring somewhere not at each other under the three Egyptian God Cards.

GNOSIA – Episode 1

GNOSIA transports viewers to the deepest recesses of the universe and a crew trying to find the traitor among them before it’s too late. So far it has all the beauty and gender of the game.

Wandance – Episode 1

A genuine and engaging premiere about a boy who wants to dance and a girl who loves dance that’s marred by the uncanny 3DCGI for its dance sequences.

The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess – Episode 1

Transporting a woman into her own middle-school fanfic makes for a great affectionate parody of isekai stories for teenage girls.

My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s – Episode 1

A breath of fresh air for its niche, with expressive fight scenes, classmates that don’t feel cartoonishly evil, and a genuine sense of mystery.

Chitose is in the Ramune Bottle – Episode 1

It’s lazy, self-congratulatory storytelling that no amount of pretty animation can add depth to. You can get in that Ramune bottle and stay there, buddy.

A tip of our hats to this show for taking on the herculean task of selling a cute, confidently fat heroine to a fatphobic world

Digimon Beatbreak – Episode 1
