I think there's a certain politeness that takes over in the face of that kind of rudeness. It's like...Famous Friend is in a social situation where they always have to be "on," and they just go from conversation to conversation without noticing HOW the transition happens. Maybe. It's just a theory.

Yes, it happens in real life. I have had people literally shove me out of the way so they can talk to a famous person. One also stepped right in front of me with his back to me, leaving me hovering awkwardly outside the conversational circle and feeling like an absolute fool. It was super fun.
