The first computer my parents had had an 80 mb hard drive (I still have it because of the archive of classic 90s PC games on it)

I'm in Ostende this week for #IKUWA8! Come see my poster. I'm also standing in for @hlsteyne.bsky.social speaking on the benefits of offshore development for palaeolandscapes research this afternoon in session D3, 16.00-18.15, room Atelier+1.

Last year I spent a lot of time updating @frommers.com guidebook to #Iceland, which has just come out. Many, many thanks to my Icelandic friends who answered my random questions as they arose - I could not have done it without you.

No, I don't want to "quickly hop on a call with you". I want to bump into you at random on a rain-lashed heath, nod at you in silent mutual admiration as we watch a buzzard gliding smoothly over a dramatic chicane in the river, then get the fuck on with my day

...also if the soil is heavily disturbed by the bioturbation from roots/plants/burrowing critters then the seismic facies would be totally different to if it were undisturbed, even if it was under the vertical resolution
andydoggerbank.bsky.social
...except in ultra high res seismic where you can and do get better vertical resolution than that
andydoggerbank.bsky.social
P.s. This sounds super cool, excited to hear more!
andydoggerbank.bsky.social
There are tree stumps preserved in marshy peats on Dogger Bank, but I'm wondering whether the disturbance would still show up in, say, a silty clay substrate that used to be a proglacial lake, even if the roots themselves have rotted away.
andydoggerbank.bsky.social
I wonder what a forested palaeolandscape would look like on seismic, whether you'd be able to see disturbance from roots... 🤔

Imagine the benefits of them being allowed to stay - you could hang your washing from their antlers to dry it out, cuddle them for warmth in winter, play monopoly with them... More reindeer in homes I say
