Looking for a Mister Rogers Neighborhood clip today, I came across a bunch of fake Sora clips—at least clearly fake, as Sora doesn't get Mister Rogers himself right at all, but I hope Daniel Striped Tiger sues the shit out of OpenAI for that.

Genuinely: Paywalling content is not a thing I love doing. I'd rather create in a world where writers & artists could share our stuff literally freely. The Flytrap is cooperatively owned by its founders, who put in a ton of as-yet unpaid work to produce ALL our content—including one free post/month.

We do have a paywall, and that's because journalism has a cost. We pay all our contributors 0.50c a word & the founders haven't been compensated for the year, so we do ask for people to pay for our content. We still haven't made a profit this year, so we are unapologetic about that.

It's a reasonable question! I'd love to listen in on that conversation, or the "let's rename a cable channel 'Paramount+ with Showtime'" conversation, to see how much internal dissent and/or head-to-wall banging there was from people who, you know, get it.

Absolutely tore through every episode of this show that we could find when we were researching the book. An astonishing resource and time capsule of gay New York before AIDS, its existence seems impossible today. Highly recommended. Gem after gem in terms of interview subjects.
