Wow. This is incredible. New Zealand's parliament is brought to halt by MPs performing a haka. Opposition party MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke begins the ceremonial group dance after asked whether her party supported controversial bill seeking to reinterpret country's founding treaty with Māori people

What could be done to make it easier for field archaeologists to raise a family? How could working on site be made compatible with raising children?

Solving this would be a major step in the maturing of the profession.

Field archaeologists are older than they used to be.

During my first career in Archaeology, most diggers were early twenties.

On my site next week, at 48 years old, I will be the third oldest site assistant, and in the team of 7 of us, everyone is over 29 years old. This is a sign.

Wondering how archaeology could, in real time, help developers to present their development in a positive light.

What we could offer developers if we promoted better public engagement whilst on site could help ensure developer-led archaeology isn't a cost-cutting race to the bottom.

Why would someone give up a successful teaching career to go and punish their body, rolling around in mud and dirt? Because archaeology is the greatest job in the world.
