Don't discount bad-faith! Trump has been in Putin's pocket for years/decades. I'm actually kinda surprised the USA hasn't already cut-off all military support to Ukraine. I thought that would be one of his first official acts back in January.

USA backs Russia instead of Ukraine and no large demonstrations have ever been organized against that. Americans do not demand deportation of Russians showing that they support Russia by allowing anti-Ukrainians in while imposing tariffs on Ukraine, threatening to deport Ukrainians but not Russians.
