Now on TPR:

Hamiltonians will pay more following the City of Hamilton losing its top-tier credit rating. S&P warns further downgrades are forthcoming unless the City resumes basic financial reporting.

It's just the latest external expert report poorly ranking Hamiton City Hall. #yhmcc #HamOnt

Absolutely. Copper theft has been an absolute blight in my neighbourhood.

It's a constant issue. A few months back the old Breezy Corners had a major flood, with water rising from their basement out to the main floor.

The more community policing, the better
I'm not there myself today.

I've personally seen it happen, so I know it's not unheard of behaviour around the horseshoe.
I've long thought #HamOnt City Council was asleep at the wheel.

I never expected to see a delegate literally call out a councillor for sleeping during a meeting.

(For the record, I’ve seen it happen more than once.)
Nice article. I remember these washrooms well.

Just curious, since it's not referenced anywhere, how much would it cost to have kept the washrooms in good repair for 40+ years?
Indeed. The lack of root cause analysis remains a major barrier to accountability. Without clear, public answers, residents are left guessing.

As for the ventilation system, there was an update in the Public Record, but who’s ultimately at fault is still unclear

The City of Hamilton has a spending and accountability problem.

400 million dollar bus barn? It's 60 % over budget. Microshelter project? It's 300 % over budget. Children's museum? 56 % over budget.

We need basic fiscal accountability.

After all, it's our money #HamOnt
Big thanks to @hamiltonpolice.bsky.social

Back in September, neighbours in Ward 3 near the Delta flagged a suspected theft/drug spot near Gage Park. Thanks to this tip, arrests were made #HamOnt

See something, say something. Let’s look out for each other!
The lack of apology by @sabreinadahab.bsky.social is pretty telling.

As we approach 2026 this is a clear call for change.
Hamilton’s bureaucracy keeps growing: 9,449 staff, up 12% since 2022, yet city services keep getting worse.

We’re paying more, getting less.

Maybe the problem isn’t front line staff, it’s leadership #HamOnt
For the first time since 2022, the City of Hamilton has released its total number of employees

9,449 - an increase of 12 per cent in two years

Many of the positions were funded by "reserves" and now must be funded from property taxes. Projected 2025 property tax increase is already 8.9% #HamOnt
City of Hamilton Headcount is now 9,449, up 12% from 2022
49.2 per cent of the expected $106.7-million 2026 operating budget increase (requiring a 8.9 per cent property tax increase) is driven by employee-related costs.

And I will note. I did have a chance to discuss this with Premier Ford as well as other highly placed government officials. The message has been clear - this is unacceptable from an elected official shaping our children.

We're going to keep after it
We can agree to disagree there.

The vulgar language used under her account with publicly identifies her position, is also highly unacceptable.

If my child came home repeating what this trustee said, she'd be grounded for a year.
Today, #HamOnt school trustee Sabreina Dahab shared a video saying “Fuck Israel, Israel is a bitch".

As a parent, I’m disgusted. Antisemitism has no place in our schools. Email the HWDSB Chair, Premier Ford, and Minister Paul calandra to demand an investigation. #HamOnt #StopAntisemitism
Honestly, this kind of behavior should shock voters. These Councillors are willing to risk your vote and our entire democracy, because they believe they know better than the experts.

It’s shameful.
I spoke with Dr. Essex, whose research informed this study, and shared the very concerns raised in this article directly with our elected officials. Those in green chose to ignore the experts.

We dodged a bullet here.
#HamOnt has hundreds of decrepit, and derelict buildings dragging entire neighbourhoods down. Tomorrow, October 1st, I’ll be at City Hall pushing for a new approach. Bylaw is a blunt tool, we need a scalpel. Time to get to work.
Yup sorry to hear that. Love the initiative of the Hamilton Street Clean Team.

A mix of federal, provincial, municipal and private investment.

When he answers my calls, sure. Hah.
Thanks for speaking to that history.

I believe we have a real chance to tackle derelict structures, restore public housing, and free up valuable lots for development by taking a more aggressive approach. I’ll be raising this at Council next week.
Credit where credit is due, you're absolutely right. Extremely well said Councillor Kroetsch.

Thanks for speaking up.
Here's the communication sent to our Mayor and City Council.
Indeed.

We’ve seen these issues surface repeatedly, which points to a culture problem at the City.

We need to evaluate our processes, identify where they fall short, and address the gaps. As a former corporate auditor, that was my bread and butter
