Playing a couple of rounds of Medusa's Garden in the parking lot was a very surprising highlight of SDHistCon for me. I'm not usually a social deduction fan, but that one was a delightful distillation of the genre. Great writing on it (and two more games) from Dan here.

Playing a couple of rounds of Medusa's Garden in the parking lot was a very surprising highlight of SDHistCon for me. I'm not usually a social deduction fan, but that one was a delightful distillation of the genre. Great writing on it (and two more games) from Dan here.

I enjoyed the particular take here of how horrible a sentient AI would find many of the tasks people delegate to AI. (It also reminded me of Tanya Huff's "Into The Broken Lands," which I just finished; great environmental fantasy novel on knowledge, power, and how those change people.)

This is fascinating. And what's really remarkable to me is that while the tools used to make up this stuff have changed, there's a lot of the practices that remain similar. Reminds me of the "Sarah Phillips" mess at ESPN last decade: deadspin.com/everything-y...

I pregamed for the Grey Cup in the perfect way today: Po-boy Fest. Some highlights: duck po-boy, Cajun surf and turf (rabbit and shrimp), Thanksgiving, Cajun Parm (boudin balls, sauce and Parm), Pho-strami.
