I use photoshop. There's a $10 a month version but honestly the medium doesn't matter all too much so long as you can do general brightness, contrast, texture, and clarity editing on top of the basic brightness and color. You can make another layer and use a generic light image and overlay it!

Three things! Toning, warm or cool. Warmth gives light depth, while cool adds mood. Light direction is important to highlight the right parts of a character and give dynamic shadows! Lastly, if you do post editing, overlays that highlight the direction and quality of the light will really help!

I just finished this up in a SmArtSchool mentorship class with Sam Weber. 😊 The assignment was to create an illustration with an original character, and I went with my current D&D character 😅

Main toll eelness 🤪

It doesn't hurt that I have a background in photography and while it's a big leap into digital photography, a lot of the skills have crossover. All you need is relaxed posing, good location, and lighting that matches the mood, but also easier said than done 😅

Funny enough, exactly those! I like looking at videos and pictures that show the process of photo shoots for magazine spreads or boudoir shots. It helped me figure out more intimate lighting and tricks to emphasize the quality in shots
