“adopting is no different from birthing,” as a doctrine, is a colossal mistake with myriad harmful consequences
when certain celebrities state that adopting a child is “no different” from birthing a child, note that this is the legal structuring that makes that pretense possible 🥚
yes, that, which is part of the grand fantasy of #adoption, which is at the core of its appeal for many adopters

This. We have open adoption agreements for some of our children. I have all of the power in those and can basically cancel them for anything. And there's no enforcement mechanism whatsoever.
note that in contemporary “open adoptions” too, the original parents have no more of a *right* to see the child than does any other legal stranger.

(psssst, listen to adoptees about the white libs/gays who intentionally adopt children of color. they got good shit to say)*

*not directing this towards Dr. Prescod-Weinstein at all, I know she knows this shit
They let this man — who ran for president on the idea that being mayor was enough because also he was gay — adopt Black children, who are going to need so much therapy as adults if they’re being raised listening to this kind of bullshit
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25

This shit makes me see red. The number of calls we get for teens who are being removed from their home because of hatred from their family is not low. And y'all want to then put them in foster homes that hate them too? Despicable.
I do not believe you are qualified to foster or adopt if your religious beliefs lead you to deny a persons right to live as who they are. Thats child abuse, not care. #fostercare #whitehouse #erasure #childabuse #religion #evangelical #lgbtqia #adoption #adoptee #adopteerights

Watching our 4 and 5 year old play with our newly-1 year old who is moving to a new home tomorrow. We as the adults signed up for these goodbyes. Seeing the kindergartener fight through it is rough.

The wife got four kids in the car and got breakfast for me while I was still snoozling*. I'm so damn lucky.

*I tend to need to work late and take the late shift for children who wake up, so I get weekend sleep-ins 😂

We haven't had a kitchen in months and when I tell you I MISS cooking. I'm sure I'll repent of that thought once I'm back on the grind of feeding this many people on the regular. But, man, I really do enjoy it.

It was important for me personally that Boats made that. Seattle still loves you BB8.

No one can tell me a single good use for it, for me. I have asked. Not a one.
What am I supposed to use it for? To summarize my emails? Too long, wrong. To write things? Too long, wrong. To plan trips? Planning is FUN and why would I outsource that? I played with it a bit six months ago, it was meh.

Also, I hate its enshittification of search results with my whole soul.

This renovation/addition project is not good for my formerly-poor brain. The amount of money we're spending is so absurd.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.
