Thank you! I think I will try and find a copy of the book to re read because I remember nothing of it except this rhyme! I even googled the cover to see if that jogged my memory but no.

Thank you! I have absolutely no recollection of the details of the book itself except I think the protagonist was on some kind of journey ? But this rhyme has stayed lodged in my head for ~ 40 years or so! Definitely made an impression!

I guess this is the updated version of 'charity' lollipop selling. I knew of a few ppl in early 00's who made a fortune in cash every weekend by selling drunk ppl lollipops for 'donations', claiming it was 'for charity' (& pretty girls doing the selling ofc) reality was a only tiny % went to charity
